No. At the very least, it will be a great place to anazlyze all the trades that have already happened, with the players getting some time with the teams to add more to the discussion.

Not to mention Ottawa and Toronto have both been very active. They could spend a few hours just talking about their moves.

All of the players they listed on the "Who's in play" list, are, well still in play.. We're are just getting more than we hoped.

Dutchie is sitting at home hoping so, just so he doesn't have to stand so close to Pierre.

It's weird how all teams are making deals beforehand. It makes more sense but weird how everyone is doing it.

Exactly. Besides, who ever saw the blockbuster tonight coming?

GMs are always guaranteed to surprise. Could still be a pretty busy deadline. Maybe since so many deals are getting done early, teams will have time to react and we'll see another flurry next Monday.

People said this last year, and then it was the busiest trade deadline ever. Just wasn't the massive trades to be made. GM's get the cap down, and then are able to manage around it to get their people. Sellers are willing to accept a target price and not take the risk of overplaying their hands. And playoff races are so close, some teams don't want to wait until the deadline because their additions can help sooner. With so few sellers, and more teams in contention, more games with new players count.

In reality, they should be moving the trade deadline up in the new CBA.

that was one of the only things i loved about Sutter, he would outright lie and say they are standing pat (and most would belive him) than flip a blockbuster on deadline.

I actually think this deadline will be better than last (thats not saying much) and even if it isn't, its still been damn exciting leading up to it already

No, they shouldn't. I still feel that there will be quite a few deals on Feb 28th. Not the big deals everybody is looking for. But I think we will see a bunch of Chris Kelly type of deals.

They'll still have one because teams still make trades at the deadline. I mean, nobody expected the Johnson or Phaneuf trades at the times they happened, so I think we're in for a pleasant surprise on February 28th.

Maybe the GM's have figured out how to deal with it?

Seriously, an insane amount of trades going on right now and not even minor ones.

TSN might as well because all they will be covering at the deadline would be plugs getting traded for mid-to-low picks.

LOL (laughed out loud)

Burke started this with the Beauchemin deal. Dominos will fall.

i remember one year when they had nothing to discuss for the first 4 hours except for the sven butenschon trade

still, people will trash the show, say it's useless, blah blah blah...yet you'll all still watch it

No chance in hell. We're all die hards on here. Even if 20 more deals where done before the 28th, the anticipation alone would have us watching the deadline show. Even if there was only a few minor deals, it would still get good enough ratings. It's not like this is the prime time slot anyways, what are they gonna bump it for? darts? tennis? poker? they can't put anything on the station that will get them more viewers than the deadline show.

If they do cancel it, I volunteer to bake every member of HFboards a fresh cookie.

Sitting at home drinking beer and waiting 3 hours for the Marty Reasoner for a 5th round pick blockbuster is still better than going to work.

Can you imagine if all the trades that happened over the last few weeks were postponed for the Trade Deadline? TSN would have a hard enough time covering/analyzing them all, and my head would explode.

It probably won't be as good but we'll still see 15+ trades. Kovalev is still going to be moved as are McCabe, Bogosian and Penner. The Canadian teams will be relative busy. Montreal isn't done, doubt Vancouver is, Edmonton will make a move or two, Calgary probably will and both Ottawa and Toronto still aren't done. It won't be the greatest day ever but it will still be worth watching.

If all these trades took place on the deadline, It would probably be the most entertaining one to watch, I'd say.
