They won't cancel it because their competition won't. It will happen. Guaranteed.

They have commercials for it, so no, it won't be cancelled.

They can analyze some of the trades of the last couple weeks. I've got no issue with a little less speculation.

Like it's been said, I don't have the slightest clue why the NHL doesn't move up the trade deadline.

The NBA & MLB have their deadlines with 1/3 of the season left & the NHL is 1/4 left. Makes no sense.

There will still be 25+ trades, probably a few big surprises, and some good discussion. I'll watch all six hours.

It was already moved up once

And their trade deadline is pretty damn close to the NBA's. And the MLB Trade deadline isnt the be-all-end-all deadline. Waiver trades are permitted well after the non-waiver trade deadline.

This is a serious speculation? I have no idea what TSN puts on during the day but if it's anything like ESPN (dirt bikes, women's college basketball, 17th replay of SportsCenter, etc.) I don't think it takes a genius to see they're going to have the freakin' show. Meanwhile if I recall correctly the last two years before this were incredibly boring anyways even without a lot of early activity.

23/25 of those will be 4th line grinder to team X for late round pick or future considerations.

I'm staying home to watch it. I think there will be at least one big trade on Monday.

The deadline is 6pm ET right?

There will still be a flurry of interesting trades that day. Calm down.

I feel the early trades will help the deadline because Gm's of teams who are fighting for playoff spots now are under pressure to make moves because they have seen other teams make them

Free agent frenzy is a (Canada Day) holiday and so should the trade deadline. I will be in front of my tv at 6:00 am sharp. TSN would never cancel because of crazy people like me.

They just need to cut it down to 1 hour, as they all retread the same old crap all day, with obvious boredom, as all the big time trades are already done.

I'd be in favour of all the sports shows just having post trade deadline show at noon or 1pm, while streaming live updates on their site.

Nobody's forcing you to watch. Rationale like this is completely stupid, you can follow the deadline as much or as little as you want. Just watch it for the last hour if you want.

Last year was 1st time I ever saw deadline special (1st year I had NHL Network)

Wonder who will be the teams to prove them wrong again

I remember them bashing Hawks and Flyers over not improving our goaltending and how that would come back to haunt us in playoffs

Its worth watching when someone makes a trade that Pierre Mcguire disagrees with and goes off on a rant, or when Pierre starts gazing deep into Gord Millers eyes and talks about Gords big stick....

Basically Pierre will make it entertaining.

And the Sens could potentially get to the finals.

They won't cancel the show. Not as if it's a big production cost or anything. What are they going to show in the morning to afternoon anyways to replace it?

If they move the deadline up, teams would still make trades a few weeks before it. They're doing it to get a jump on teams waiting for the deadline. With so many teams still in the playoff hunt now, moving it up would make it harder for a team to determine if they're a buyer or a seller. This way, it's easier to speculate who is/isn't available.
