This is the type of deal I want Gauthier to make, not sending away picks for rentals, if you wanna trade the 1st and 2nd I have no problem but get some guys that will help us in the long run like EJ or Stewart which is exactly the type of forward we have needed for years. I wonder if PG even knew he was made available

Man, Erik Johnson... that has the potential to be a huge ripoff for Colorado.

Johnson had a great rookie year but destroyed his knee in the offseason and it's stalled his development. I guess the Blues lost faith in him but man, that one could really come back to bite them.

Colorado now has Duschene, Stastny and Johnson to build around. That's pretty decent to start with.

On the surface it looks like St Louis are the big winners.

Did they really . Dushene is out and they traded away Stewart. Will they be as dominant on Offense ?

Agreed.

People are being blinded by upside here. Yes Erik Johnson has the potential to be a Norris winner and maybe he will change and go back in the right direction in Colorodo. That being said, Shattenkirk is already a solid Top 4 defenseman with excellent offensive accumen. The difference between the two today, isn't much.

Chris Stewart is what gives St-Louis the win right now, hands down. It has the potential to switch hands down the road though, I will concede that.

Montreal doesn't have the horses to get the package on either side without giving up one or both of Subban and Pacioretty. Frankly, right now Subban is ahead of both Johnson and Shattenkirk in my eyes so it's a deal breaker for me.

If Shattenkirk is as good as Johnson, St.Louis wins the deal by a mile.

On the main board? Sure. Here? Bad idea. Every single one of these threads are going to turn into a "why hasn't Gauthier made this deal instead" whinefest.

I'm sitting here wondering if I would have traded Subban & let's say Gomez for Stewart & Shattenkirk?

That improves our forward position by leaps and bounds and doesn't hurt our defense that much. But I love that kid, PK

It's going to save lots of problems for us mods, people will discuss in the OOT thread and others will start 3-4 threads, so we start a thread for a confirmed trade with link and the rest get merged there, like last year saves us many problems

You really think so? Pk is probably valued a little less than Erik Johnson but Gomez is better than McClement. We just don't let the Avs look at G-love's pay cheque.

Colorado would be happy about PK and I think he is a little ahead of EJ right now, but them rebuilding they have 0 use for Gomez

Maybe. I'm not sure about PK being valued less than Johnson though, if so it's really not much. It's friggen close between the two in my eyes..

I think the fact Mtl hasn't had a PF in years make fans go crazy about every single one of them out there. Stewart is good, had a great start but has struggle since coming back. Shattenkirk is playing well too. That being said, neither have Superstar written all over them.
PK on the other hand is already close to super stardom. He can play on the PP, he can be a solid PKer, he's great at ES, skates amazingly well, has great stickhandling abilities, can pass, shoot (needs to work on accuracy), battles hard, can lay out crushing hits and will do so at every opportunity, sticks up for his teammates, is explosive, and to make it all better he's got an attitude and gets in the opponent's head, he's already generating a huge amount of attention. I mean seriously is there anything this kid can't do? I'm not being a homer now, but really the kid is well on his way to become a superstar and if he keeps progressing as he's been doing since the Juniors, it won't be long before he gets there.

I wouldn't trade PK for Stewart and Shattenkirk alone. Crosby is about the only player I would trade PK for.

You can say the Blues got the better end of that trade. Personally, I feel Johnson can become one of the best Dman out there, so I wouldn't have traded him.

In our situation it would be something like;

Pyatt Subban 1st for Shattenkirk, Stewart, 2nd

I'd probably do it. 90% sure.
