The guy's good, maybe someone like Tony McKegney needs to comment & shut everyone up. he Played up in the Quebec City so if anyone seen it all, it's probably him.
Must have been like this in the 50's in MLB. I don't care if you speak English-French or Japanese, White, black, green whatever! Just shake our hand & get the job done!
now about the fact that Subban (or pleks, gio, cammy...) doesn't have any tough players backing him up, dya think maybe you should be advising your pal Pierre to put an end to your mistake?
Bob brought these players in..so its not his mistake, its up to pierre to help surround them now
This is great that Gainey is speaking out and picking up for PK but PG or JM should have done this a while ago..
JM is a clown. It's one thing to be cool, calm and collected.. But it's completely another thing to never say a word and look like a push over, which is exactly what the perception of Jacques Martin is.
Gainey goes on to compare Subban to Chelios, I think that's the best comparison I've ever heard... In terms of impact on the ice, and their skillset (when Chelly was younger) are insanely similar.

I would love to see a respected veteran like Gomez, Gio or Gill address the situation publicly next time there's a controversy manufactured over some run of the mill thing that Subban does. I think that everybody can agree that the kid has faced an unfair level of criticism, no matter what we think the underlying cause(s) are.

Subban doesn't have that mean streak in him though. Chelios was just brutal to play against (in a good way.)

man you **** me off
?
The roster Gauthier inherited lacked the "toughness element"...
Gauthier worked closely with Gainey in assembling that roster, and has continued the trend they established (prioritizing skating/skilled players over more gritty/tough players).
Gainey specifically points out that Subban doesn't have any tough guys around him, though in fairness, it's not like he suggested that the team SHOULD have those players, so perhaps he still believes his direction (and the continued direction of the organization) is fine.
I disagree. I'd like to see the team add some elements of "toughness" so that Subban et al. can rely on teammates as opposed to management/ex-management to defend them.
not sure why a differing opinion to your own upsets you that much... sounds like you need to learn some relaxation techniques.
You couldn't have been more right. It's up, and it's definitely headed in that direction...
I posted a few messages to get it deleted, but I guess no Mod finds it necessary to take it down.
I am serious when I say though that we as Habs fans should pledge not to put PK threads on the main board. Everyone hates PK - and you don't really "get" PK unless he is on your team, or if you are one of those rare posters who is a mature impartial non-homer and can give an honest objective opinion without involving emotion.
Gainey (about PK Subban):
'' I think Montreal is lucky to have him and the NHL is lucky to have him. "
I think like this (mentioned above) everytime I see PK wearing a Habs jersey, and I still can't believe he wasn't a top 10 overall choice. We were lucky (Timmins/Gainey) that PK was still available so late in the Draft.
Gotta love Mr.Gainey. So much respect for him. Gotta retire his number. Gotta.
And, gotta love PK!! Our Habs can make the playoffs thanks to Price, Pleks, and PK, and strong defense (incl. a strong PK unit).
No PK, no playoffs. No Price, no playoffs.
