Philly Live!.... and the Spectrum has been demolished

Well since the spectrum is finally going down for good.....

Anyone want to discuss 'Philly Live'? I think it should be awesome, I hope its kinda like the Baltimore Mall with restaurants, stores dedicated to the teams with loads of merchandise etc.

The Spectrum looked sad when the other day, obviously you could still see it. And see right through it, too.

Oh wow that's wild. I'd like to see gladiators fight to the death in there.

That's depressing.

Good luck building Philly Live in this economy.

I'm fairly certain that that project lost it's investors when the economy tanked. It will probably be a parking lot for now.

Hasn't it been stripped down to basically just a sports bar now?

Less parking, more traffic. I am pretty sure the hotel will be coming. I hope it doesn't extend into the VIP lot like the drawing.

I think it will be an utter failure when all is said and done. There is nothing down there to make people want to go. Putting in some bars and restaurants isnít going to change that long term. They might get an initial it is new numbers, after a while it will wear off.

Philly Live has been scaled back, and apparently will be built in phases. I'll believe it when I see it.

Just let me have my $5 parking at the Jetro lot and I'm good.

Is that Matt Walker handing out the tickets at the gate?
Looked at that pic again. They were planning to chew up A LOT of parking for arena and stadium games. That would make Jetro one of the closer lots.

My kids have no problem with the walk from there. I split the savings with them -- they get and extra treat at the game (ice cream, cotton candy, etc.), I get an extra $5 in my wallet.

It should have torture devices for visiting fans.

For example, Penguins fans should have to watch reruns of their team via 2003-2004

I disagree the final product takes up too much parking. At least in the photo...it all looks the same to me.

Peter Luukko was quoted a few weeks back saying it had something to do with the way the Spectrum was constructed. He mentioned if implosions were done to the Spectrum, then it would have to be done in segments as opposed to what we commonly see for these events. Also, others voiced concern about the proximity to the SEPTA (rail) system.

At least the hotel part of Philly Live can't come soon enough. I know it doesn't matter to those of you that are local, but having somewhere to stay other than the Holiday Slum and something to do/eat at that isn't C&P will be awesome for the out of town fans.

The rail system was a big concern. The company I work for bid on the project and we came up short. We have a couple of projects right there so I am there almost everyday. I was there yesterday and there was not a whole lot left standing. All I have left are a ton of ticket stubs and a million memories.
