I've been thinking about this all weekend. The thought of not starting Marty if he's healthy seems like sacrilege, but we can't deny how Moose has been playing. It's possible that Jacques could even out the starts from here on through if Marty is 100%, but we've also heard that song before.
So, put your best argument forward: who should get most of the starts for the rest of the season or should they share the load evenly?
Should the improbable occur, is Marty the unquestioned starter for the post season?
Note: No "wait until they are close or in the POs" posts. This is just to get a general feel from everyone about the teams goaltenders and friendly debate.
Start Hedberg until he screws up. If he loses a game 1-0, keep him in there. He's got the hot hand right now and Brodeur is recovering from a lingering injury. Once Moose cools off, go back to Brodeur with Moose still getting his backup time.
You ride the hot hand. With only 3 games in the next week, he should play all 3 if he and the team stays hot. But March is another story. We have a few back to backs.
Moose has been great but if Marty is healthy you got to play the man; remember why the Devils actually had wins in the first 40 games - almost all Marty shutouts.
Moose until he loses and only if he loses by more than 1 goal. He's too hot to steer away from with all respect to marty keep your ass planted to the bench lol.
I wouldn't mind seeing Marty against the Stars, since I think we can win with either netminder in, but I think Lemaire will want to go with the hot hand for now.
Moose should play the next three road games if he's able to keep the win streak going, but once the team returns from the road trip, regardless if the streak is still intact, Marty should start the first game back home.
After that I don't see Moose starting any other game except on March 17 vs. Ottawa.
With the way the defence is playing, it probably doesn't really matter who we have in there. We could make Yann Danis look good right now.
FIXED.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Seriously, though, the Defense has been killing it lately. It seems like the Devils found a way to "Trap" their opponents without being able to use "The Trap". Leave it to Lemaire to find a loophole in the rules. Oh Jacques, you sneaky Devil, you.
BTW, Saugus, we should continue to use this pic in every GDT from now on since it seems to be working as a Good Luck charm :
