Yeah yeah, 38 shots from the blue line... gave up a short handed goal. No hussle, no grind, no grit and no emotion from the players or the bench, but that's ok! We're going to win the up!!
Like Tremblay said, citing the ice conditions is just an excuse. Why didn't the Flames suffer from ice conditions?
They did. There were so many turnovers on both sides, but not an equal number of odd man rushes. They always had a man back and on 3/4 goals, their guy was WIIIDE open and had all the time in the world to put it in. The flames just needed to squash us into the boards and let the rest take care of itself. They positioned themselves well so that it was easy tap ins/breakaways. It's not the ice's fault that we played bad D. It's the ice's fault that we played crappy offense, which lead to pinching, bad turnovers, etc. The flames were better at holding a bobbling puck. Dunno if the game would have flowed the same way if that 5 on 3 never happened. Forcing offense and failing was our undoing.
Every teams in this league has two or three slumps in a seasons where they have bad strecht, we had one near christmas time and they have another right now it's not the biggest deal it's happening to all NHL teams all season we just want them to get out of this slump and getting on a good strecht to finish the season and going into the playoff.
This is not going to be our year. The team is breaking down, between injuries and guys like AK and Gomez just plain sucking night after night, there's not a lot to hope for. The org has gone a great job providing depth, but it's getting close to wait-until-next year time IMO.
They saved the worst game of the year to show to 42,000 fans and millions of viewers across the country. Pitiful. Only Hab I thought played good was Paul Mara. This team needs to get rid of Jacques Martin asap. His motivational techniques are clearly not working and his choice of lines are rediculous.
Pretty disappointing to sit through that cold to watch my team play that soft. They couldn't have thrown more one hit all game, and were standing still all night. Third year in a row throwing up a stinker in Calgary. ugh. AK46 had to be the worst player on the ice. It's like he doesn't know his stick could be lifted, even thought it seems to happen 10 times a night.

I am not being sarcastic or anything but ..
I really would like to know what are JM's motivational techniques. Would love to hear what he tells the team during the intermissions when they mail in a period or a game.

Again, as I mentioned in an earlier post, it was bad coaching to leave out Picard in such a meaningful game of the year. Not good for team morale to put him on the sidelines while Mara comes in and plays.
Just my two cents, you're more than in your right to disagree. But if I was the coach of this team, no way would I have done that, and if I'm a player on this team, I lose respect for you because of this.
Very disappointing to say the least. Obviously the Habs have trouble scoring and the forwards just can't seem to do it. And because of that extra pressure is being put on the D to "make things happen". Problem is they are about depleted too.
I counted the points produced by the D for the Habs and other front running teams. The D is in the middle of the pack for producing points. However the Habs are at the bottom of those same teams when it comes to goals scored. Bottom line is the D contributes more points with less goals than other teams.
The forwards need to pick up the pace. The D IMO has done their share with more hardship. Gomez looked no different to me than any other night. Down the boards, stop inside the blueline and some fandangled pass. Gionta's predictable too. Plekanec is running out of gas.

I'm not a fan of Picard by any means but to be honest I have to agree.

Agreed. And Gill played like ****, while Picard is usually reliable.

I just don't get it on a human level - it wouldn't have affected the game that much.
If I was Picard I would have been furious. Things like this are avoidable and aren't good for the team in the long run. The team has to respect it's coach, as well as the coach needs to respect his players.
I'm not saying JM is always a dick, but this was something that he didn't need to do. He could have played Picard, he earned it by not being a distraction and working hard in practice.
Dude, that is not what I said whatsoever - I said it was the wrong move to leave him out and put Mara in who has been with the team for all of a few days. Bad for team morale, for now and the future. If you have ever led a team, or managed a group of people you will easily understand the dynamic that I am referring to.

I know you can read, just try harder next time.

So glad we have so many team psychologists on hfboards.
Martin also ruined Pacioretty and Subban right?
Oh wait...
You guys have no idea what you are talking about but please continue

Whatever............so you are saying Mara saved the Habs from being whipped 8 - 0? Not trying to be a psychologist - it just seemed like the right to do. That's all.
