Official 2011 NCAA March Madness Thread

I know it's not March yet, but since the Conference Tourneys start in a few weeks, I figure I start this thread.

For all those wondering, the Rangers' MSG co-inhabitant just beat the 5th top-13 team in the country with a last-second win over No. 4 Pitt.

Come Monday will be the first time since 2000 that the Johnnies are going to be ranked in the top-25 in the nation, and today's win sealed their ticket for the NCAA's

St. John's still sucks.

Pitt will make the Final Four this year. Book it.

St. Johns do not suck. You do not win 5 games vs top 15 teams by accident. And Pitt final 4 is laughable, they seem to choke every year. Just curious what round it will come in this year.

Yeah March is the greatest month of the year. Conference tournies into the NCAA tourney, NHL playoff push, and Baseball just around the corner, also the Knicks are somewhat relevant this year. Even more so if we can get Melo in uni. Good times.

I think September-October-December is better.

Baseball Playoffs, NFL starting up, NHL starting up and NBA starting up.

Thats a great stretch too. But I love the NCAA tourney more then Baseball playoffs, I guess thats what being a Met fan does to someone. So ill take the NHL and NBA playoff push over the begining of their respective seasons, and NFL. Either way you cant go wrong. Plus March is when us Met fans can be optimistic, September is a different story.

Yeah but we used to start school in September

The springtime just means the Summer is almost here. Day baseball, March Madness, NHL Draft, NHL/NBA playoffs

I'm a Hoyas fan back to the early 80s, but boy it's fun watching St. John's rise to prominence again - let's hope it stays that way. There SHOULD be a NYC team in college basketball that matters nationally.

I even have to say I find myself rooting for the old enemy in most of these games.

The 1st college game I ever watched was on CBS back in 1984 -- GTOWN vs SMU and Ewind totally dominated. i think they had Reggie Williams and David Wingate too.

So Gtown was my favorite team until about 1989 when I saw malik sealy play.

Lolwut.

They beat Duke. Not beat. BLEW OUT.

That was the worst Duke pounding I have seen in years, for them to just blow them out by 20 and have Duke attempt to crawl back...and considering Duke was pretty comfortable at MSG...no, no they don't suck. In fact, they may even win the whole BE tournament.

They certainly deserve their ranking this week.

2011 March Madness

I dont think St Johns can win the tournament, that being said I also think no one is going to want to play them.I think they can make it to the sweet sixteen which in itself would be unbelievable considering where they have been for the last 10 years.St Johns at the Garden is a great place when they are relevant.I grew up in Queen near their campus moved to Fl 5yrs ago and still root for them.I cant stand the Fl teams and always root against them. Also a ND football fan and have been all my life.As us oldtimers remember there was no college football in NYC except IVY teams-growing up in an Irish/Italian area ND was a natural.
March is great time of the year for me

The Johnnies have looked real good this year, if it wasn't for their losses to Fordham and St.Bonaventure they would be ranked much higher (Top 18).

I hope they can do something in march madness and make it to the sweet 16, that would be fun.
