Hello Stars fans. Not sure if Dallas has any interest in moving Neal, but what would you be looking at from the Canucks to move him?
Please keep in mind that the Canucks are hoping to add to the roster to try and improve their chances to go deep, so players like Kesler, Burrows, Edler and Ehrhoff are kind of off limits.
With this in mind, would something around Mason Raymond, Yann Sauve and a pick work?
I'm not that eager to move Raymond, but I'm not certain the Stars would be willing to only get unproven players back in a trade.
Raymond is certainly close to Neal in upside, but of course has a game built on speed instead of physical play. He is a very reliable two way player, and up till this season, has shown a steady improvement. I believe that injuries have slowed him down, and he's not as consistent as he was last year, but has still shown a lot of positives. He has another year left on a reasonable contract as well.
Sauve is a promising big, agile defender who may make your team next season, but might also benefit from a year in the AHL. It's been suggested that he will become a decent shut down defender, but he moves the puck well and has a very heavy shot.... it may be that his upside is more of a two way player.
There are also forwards available on the farm, but I'm not certain that Gillis would be willing to move a guy like Hodgson for Neal, simply because the team may not be able to afford Neal's salary demands next season.
