I can't believe how far Aunty has come this season. I hope he is lights out the rest of the way like he was for the Hawks...

I hope he rocks it this year in the PO's. Unfortunately, unless we get rid of Nitty we have no way of resigning him.

I did the numbers, and if we resign White at 3.5mil, it is almost impossible to resign Niemi.

We're not re-signing Aunty no matter what. He only came here to show that he could take another team to the Cup to justify a long term $4-6 mil/year deal. No matter what the Sharks say, Aunty is gone...but for our sakes, it would be nice if he was gone to an East team on July 1 in a 5 year $25 mil or more deal (which would mean we won the cup because nobody would give him that kind of scratch unless he won two cups in a row for two different teams )

Yah, but Niitty does not have a NTC so he'll be gone after this year I suspect. DW isn't going to let Niemi go if he can keep him just to keep an injury prone guy.

On top of that, I suspect Mitchell will be gone by then, and if we are really luck, Heatley.

Also you are not taking into account the cap likely increasing again a few million. If so, it won't be a problem regardless.

He's Not Nabby, he Sucks, We have to Trade him now.

Well deserved. Love what he's doing lately, even though I'm a bit worried there might be some burnout when he's really needed. Kinda hope Niitty get's back on track and they might give Niemi a day off but I guess this is the definition of riding the hot hand.

I wouldn't say no matter what but certainly if we win the cup, it'll make it hard, though, for sure. If he's fine with a $4m per year deal for 2-4 years, I'd be fine with that.

4 mil is pushing it for me with Niemi. He's good, but he's not that good.

However, I think 4 mil is what it would take to sign him HERE. He has no loyalty to us, and he wants to cash in (hopefully successfully this time).

I see him more as someone who signs in the 3.3 to 3.75 range.

Remember, Halak - who had one of the most impressive post seasons I've ever seen in modern post lockout playoffs - has a cap hit of 3.75.

I just think 4+ mil is way too much for Niemi.

Yeah, $4m is high - the absolute max for me. $3.5m is what I've been playing with in Capgeek. It works fine for us, assuming we deal Torrey.

Have you guys ever heard of a GM working something out with an eventual UFA before? I can't say that I have but I sure as hell hope DW is doing something of the sort.

We think that is what happened with Wallin.

We will never know if so though.

Hopefully Heatley will be gone, maybe to whatever team loses out on the Richards sweeptakes.

Nemo has some of the quickest legs I've seen - well earned indeed. Hopefully we can re-sign him, but if he goes to free agency and gets his big contract, good for him ...

Niemi is dreadful. I can't believe Wilson signed him! We should have signed Nabokov! etc etc ad-nauseum.

I remember the panic earlier this year. Just like with Coyle, and countless others episodes in the Sharks recent past...

Well done for proving most of these doubters wrong, Antti.

Niemi should paint his helmet like a clownfish. That's be awesome... and everybody loves orange with teal!

Nemo should be on the back of his helmet and he can have Bruce, Anchor, and Chum on the sides and front.

Well, me thinks that DW will go after Nichol, Wellwood, Niemi, and White out of the UFAs. Possibly Eager. Will be good to get Huskins and Wallin off.

Probably Eager vs Mayers; he keeps one of them. Eager has more offense; Mayers gives them PK.

Bold are the ones that matter most - with guesses on their new deals)

Doubt Mayers is due for much of a raise. Should be doable if he wants to go for both. Whether he wants to do that vs. say Eager and promote Mashinter or McLaren is another story

He needs a break. We are gonna overwork him like we did with Nabokov and he's gonna stink in the playoffs.
