There's been a lot of rumours out there saying it's bad. But I just found these videos on youtube from "Sports Science" where they test myths. You should actually be better if you've had sex the night before a game.
Sometimes it has no effect for me, sometimes I feel pretty sluggish/slow in the game. Don't think it has a major effect in general though, certainly nothing compared to a hangover, lack of a good meal, etc.
How soon before the game ? I don't see how doing it 24 hours before a game would affect you at all.

Think that sex before a game might work better for goalies... my goalie always played at his best when he got laid before a game... if he had a bad game, we knew he didn't get any that day lol
