He'd have to clear waivers and he hasn't been any better than the waiver exempt players that have got the call for Manitoba.

Not a terrible guess. First two years he was a solid producer from the back-end, hasn't been able to bounce back quite as well. 24-years-old.

Yeah! I hope Burke is GM till Luke Schenn plays then... I really wish Schenn is blue and white till the very end.

I too don't expect to see anything significant return - another warm body to throw into the lineup to fill in the last two or three Dman roster spots pushing Ledba into the 7th on depth chart.

That's just based on the assumption that we are throwing our 3rd round pick out in exchange; we would have to add something to the pot in order to bring someone with a bit more quality back and right now I don't think there's too much off the roster Burke is willing to add.

As for Mac, I wouldn't expect to see him involved in discussions based on Burke's audio with the Globe - seems to me as if he has to sit down with Mac's agent and have that discussion yet, and until they do, there's no point including him in trade proposals

3rd's usually don't get thrown around for warm bodies.

Warm bodies usually go for 5th's, 6th's and 7th's.

I really have a problem with adding the kind of player a 3rd might bring when they are paying Finger $3 million. Man he must be stinking it up with the Marlies.

It isn't like they can get a true building block for the future for a 3rd. Just burning an asset for a temporary fix. Unless it is a 3rd+ and they are shopping above the scrub aisle but unless it is way above that, they will be just adding to the clot of D contracts after finally clearing a couple..

A 3rd plus Komi for.....?

Right?

It gets really, really tiring listening to people drupe over someone who was at best, an average Dman in this league. He was average on this team when he was surrounded by average Dmen, so I'm not sure why people would want him back on July 1st - coming back to a team that has plenty of average Dmen...

Lebda on the pp was quite atrocious. Even Wilson seemed to hate the idea of sending him out there.

I expect Burke will use the recent draft picks acquired and not anybody on the current roster.

Finger would have to go through re-entry waivers, meaning we'd be on the hook for half of his salary for the remainder of his contract if anyone picked him up. That'd definitely hurt our cap. Brunnstrom is in the same situation (with a much lower contract), which is why we likely won't see him this year either.

Finger may still be injured as well.

Perhaps. Maybe the clearer point would be that top-4 Dmen don't get moved around for just a third? Maybe that's what I should have said.

You've pretty much answered it yourself - the fact that Finger is out of the picture likely means that the Leafs do not think he's apart of the solution, OR are convinced that at 3 million he will be an attractive commodity for a team on re-entry waivers.

Finger is just the same as what we have too much of on the back end.

Say no to Ian White. What's the point really? Give the minutes to a prospect, or spend on someone that had upside. Ian White played well when he was here, but that was a while ago and we were a different team. We need to develop our propects, or bring in upgraded pieces.

FWIW, Parent has probably been the best defenseman on the Moose for Vancouver since he was sent down, but he runs the risk of recall waivers on the way up and Vancouver doesn't want to risk being stuck with half his cap hit next season in order to call him up. The way he has played with Manitoba, he'd probably have a legitimate shot at Van's 5-6 d-man next season. Don't know if TO would be able to trade for him and have him report directly to the big club, bypassing recall waivers or not. Not sure how that works.

Nothing about guessing who this player could be but am I the only hockey observer who thinks Ian White has always been better than Chris Campoli? Campoli is the better citizen and probably that's where he has been a more desirable player to have.
