Thrashers and Ladd close to extension?
Andrew Ladd is close to finalizing an extension with the Thrashers.
Quote:
“We are still talking,” Ladd said. “We are still working on it but both sides are on the same page for sure.
Chris Vivlamore's tweets make it sound even closer than that.

Andrew Ladd says he and #Thrashers are close to new contract. Still some details to finalize.

What would be good money for Ladd? I'm guessing something in the $4-4.5 million per season range.

That's the kind of player/captain the Thrashers need.

If they sign Ladd for that much cash, they will regret it for the length of the contract.
He's a good player but certainly not woth $4.5M.

I'm very pleased to see both Ladd and Byfuglien dedicating themselves for the long term, even with the high chance that the Thrashers will relocate for next season.

$4.5 million seems an awful lot for a guy who's never broken the 50 point mark

He'll probably get a bit more than hes worth but for the team, as their captain, it's worth it.

Anything below $4 is a good deal, IMO.

Too be honest, what difference is there between 3.75 and 4.5. I think Atlanta fans would be happy to know that the core is largely locked up. Its not like they are going to spend to the cap, so I don't see the extra 500k making that big of a difference. Hopefully it will be under 4.5 however.

On pace for 60, 4 points in his last 3. He's heating up.

Wheeler was interviewed earlier and had great things to say about playing for Rammer. He's looking forward to staying.
Stuart also. Things are looking good.
LOVED Ladd's comments about having a good thing HERE. PS....things seemingly might be taking a turn for the good owners-wise....good for Atlanta. bad for Winnipeg.

Why would he when he is going to be playing in a hockey market next year?
Seriously though, Dudley has had a lot of influence on this team and hasn't been the full-time GM for even a year. This is very good news.

$4 million seems fair but Atlanta have to pay the 'suck tax' so i'm guessing $4.5 million for 4 years. Byfuglien getting 5.2 helps Ladd's cause.

Seems like a good move for both parties. I'm going to guess 4 yrs 21mil 4.25 cap hit.

anything in the 3-5 year, 3.4-4.0 million range is what i would expect. it would be nice to have the same captain for more than a year for once and even if he does it in less impressive fashion than others he IS leading our team in goals and whatever line he's on always seems to play well.

Same cap hit as David Backes starting next season. Same as Ryan Malone now.
