Wow. I'm amazed the Stars got fleeced in that deal.

I would have LOVED Neal on this team. Too bad we missed out on him as he's just what we need.

PG is too busy trading 5th rnd picks to make phone calls about other options.

Unbelievable... and Niskanen?????? How stupid are they in Dallas??? I thought the St. Louis deal was a fleecing. This is a travesty if true. I did think that the idea behind this trade (Neal for Goligoski) made sense, but that i assumed Pittsburgh had to add something to the trade, not Dallas.

There must be a lot of Gms trading 5th round picks then because I see 27 other teams that didn't acquire Neal or offer more.

That being said, I would have loved Neal.

yeah wtf is Dalas thinking!?

at first i was like Neal vs Goligoski, that would be pens win, but now with Niskanen, its complete roberry!

i would have easily given akost weber and like kristo for Neal and niskanen!!

I really think the Stars was searching for a young D-men who can help their team right away, We keep Suban and Weber is not there yet. So we don't have or wanted to give what they wanted

That been said I still hope Gauthier is waiting for number 1 center

I'm pretty sure the Penguins were looking for a young winger with potential now that Goligoski has been made expendable by the emergence of Letang. Niskanen seemed to be disappointing since his rookie and sophomore years.

You have the upper class of the GM's, and the rest. This team is nowhere near the top in the GM category.

Dallas was looking for D-men. Unless you were willing to lose Subban, we really have no one else who the Stars would have been interested in.

Would you have been willing to trade Subban for Neal or Stewart? Remember that Subban isn't as seasoned as Goligoski and isn't nearly as good Johnson right now in his career.

Wow, I knew about the rumors of Goligoski for Neal which was pretty fair but the Pens even landed Niskanen which I know wasn't having a great year but still with Pittsburgh he might get back on track. What a steal by the Penguins, well done Shero

Goligoski is nowere near Subban in value.

I would have traded Weber + a decent prospect (like Kristo) without a moment of hesitation. Obviously Weber is not really a full time NHLer yet like Gogo, I would have traded Gorges tho if he were healthy.

And Weber is nowhere near Goligoski in value. Adding a prospect does not mean a thing to Dallas who's competing for a playoff spot and is looking for help on their blue line right now.

So would I, but do you seriously think that Dallas would rather have Weber + Kristo instead of Goligoski?

To complete this deal, we would have had to put Subban on the table.

Ouch, Dallas got robbed. Great job pulling the trigger Shero.

Damn, the East gets better and better each day and Goose is going to rot in Dallas, which is terrible for my pool.

He will have all the pp time there, he will be fine. Letang was becoming the leader in Pittsburgh in terms of pp, Goligoski was slowing down a little probably the best for him

I don't know. Yesterday if I asked you ''would Dallas trade James Neal and Niskanen for Goligoski'' would you have answered me ''yes'' with a straight face?

I get what your point, but when guys like Wisniewski go for 2nd rounders you have to wonder what Nieuwie drank, smoked or injected before agreeing to a trade like that.

There isn't one untouchable on this team, in my mind. Trades would be a lot easier to make if they had a clue what direction they were going in, what they were building around etc.

Goligoski's makes significantly less and is signed for next year. Big deal for a cash strapped team such as Dallas.
