Hodgsons call up could lead to a trade?

So Cody is up 1 week before the deadline apparently tomorrow nights game will have many scouts present….. Reading to far into this?? The Canucks don’t need Hodgson in the line up due to injury… The Canucks secondary scoring has been better as of late and they are getting players back on the back end so no pressing need for Hodgson? His play is getting back to where it was earlier this season since being sent down.. No secret the Canucks are locked in at the one and two C spot for years to come and aside from Detroit most teams as favorites for the cup has made some sort of move? It is not like Gillies to buy for a long run but that strategy has not gotten his team out of the second round could this be the year he pulls the trigger on a deal that brings us a piece for a long run?? This is being touted as an audition for the 4th line center job http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/C...769/story.html
so is this the Canucks way of saying this is the job available get it done kid or were brining someone else in for that job. Does not mean they deal him but if he can't get it done who will Any offers??? (with or without Cody)

He is not being traded or showcased for a trade.

He's is up to see if the Canucks already have their 4th line centre for the playoffs.

They have 3 games to see if he can do the job up to Gillis' and Av's standards.

If not, back down he goes and the Canucks will make a trade.

Simple as that.

So you agree with what I said... But you think he has 100% no way of being delt? So if he can't get it done who do we get?

I think it is possible that he is good enough that they trade someone else. I also think if he doesn't prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is an NHL player in the next little bit, he will be moved.

Manitoba will be thrilled to have him.

I doubt it simply for the reason that Gillis has stated he will not be making significant changes going into the deadline. Any deal that would be large enough to warrant moving Hodgson would be considered "significant".

He's not competing with anybody else on the team, we don't have a 4th line C this year so far.

He was sent down for cap reasons.

Yeah I know, and with no one on LTIR I feel like if he proves 100% to be ready, he will stick and someone, maybe Tambellini, will be traded just to clear a contract. Unless the "13th man" is on a two-way deal, in which case I agree no trade will be made. I was just gasping for straws trying to make the absurd topic work, tbh.

I can't believe management has settled on Raffi Torres as our 3rd line winger after one good game....

Poor Cody - welcome to the pressures of being drafted by a Canadian team.

The kid was drafted 3 years ago and in those 3 years has played 52 games. He has a grand total of 18 points in 34 AHL games - his only AHL experience.

If this kid is going to turn out patience is needed. Give him some time.

Let me explain what I think happened.

Hodgson got called up, Played well, But salo had to return, so he got sent down to save as much cap as possible.

Injuries happened, but they did not wanna put hamhuis or ballard on LTR.

Hamhuis returns tomorrow, which opens up cap space because oberg is sent down.

Which means Hodgson gets called back up for 3 more games, to see if he can play at this level as a fourth liner.

If he can't, Hodgson will get sent down, canucks will trade for a fourth line center.

?

He had a full amazing season in the O after being drafted by Vancouver and went on to help the Moose in the playoffs.

It was after that season that the injury problems hit him.

I don't know if he is auditioning for 4th line role. I think if they are planning on bringing in a 4th line guy they will do it anyways and hodgson is injury help for the playoffs.

Every single transaction warrants trade speculation, doesn't it?

You obviously read only what you wanted to!
One of 3 things are going to happen with this call up from most likley to least!
1.) He gets the job as 4th line Center and will be with the club for the rest of the year and playoffs.
2.) He gets sent down and they make a deal at the deadline for a 4th line C
3.) (OP least likley) He gets delt and they most likley get a 4th line C in the deal!

Does this make sense or do you want to nick pick???

Patrick White looks good, he was picked in the 1st round don't you know

Seriously. Gillis is not going to make a move for anyone. We keep talking about a 4th line center...we haven't had one all year so i'd imagine it's Cody.

Our Playoff Line up

Daniel Henrik Burrows
Raymond Kesler Samuelsson
Torres Manny Hansen
Tamby CoHo Glass

Edler Hoff
Hamhuis Salo
Ballard Beiska

Loungo
