I am just wondering what you all think of the Trainer certification system in Canada. I think its a joke. You can become a hockey trainer and responsible for all injuries with a short course teaching a little about concussions, and more on the liability side of things. Level II isn't much better requiring only an :emergency plus" first aid which is an emergency first aid with spinal precautions or a standard first aid. The only trainers course I see as valuable is the level III which i currently hold. It teaches taping and some advanced injury care as well as nutrition and such. It is usually taught by high level trainers (eg. mine was taught by Dan Lebold of the Kitchener Rangers)
Also do you guys think more first aid knowledge should be required even for a level I trainer?
