Five Senators to become UFAs

http://www.sportzdomain.com/modules....rder=0&thold=0

Bondra
Leschyshin
Simpson
Van Allen
Ray

No surprises really.. but I kind hoped we'd keep Simpson around, I like that guy.

Although Mucks did say that Bondra, Simpson, and Leschyshin are still of interest to the team, and may be signed at a later date.

Simpson is awful. Now, if Leschyschyn is willing to come back at a reduced price, I'm all for it. I love having him on this team.

They probably will resign Simpson. They will need a spare on D. Unless some of guys in Binghamton are ready to make the jump! Maybe Smerk?

In an interview, Meszaros said he will work really hard this summer to make the team this year. Though I doubt that happens. But it's nice to hear how committed he is already.

I've noticed that a lot of Slovakians are like that.

Hopefully Meszaros will take on a good role in Binghamton so he can jump up to ottawa sometime soon.

Complete list of UFA's

Van Allen C
Ray RW
Leschyshyn D
Simpson D
Bondra LW

Allen G (supposed to be the backup in Bingo but failed completely)
Hull RW (he was a coach/player. Will he become a coach?)
Payer C (back to Florida with Martin?)
Tapper RW (decent scorer for Bingo)

There are something like 5 teams already interested in Leschyshyn, but he told Muckler that his #1 choice is to stay in Ottawa, even if he was in a minor roll again, to just fill in for injured guys. I'm thinking he'd take a pay cut to stay here as well. Leschyshyn as a depth dman is pretty good, especially if he can be signed for less.

Meszaros can not play in Binghamton this coming year. He will in all likelihood be playing in Vancouver of the WHL.

Can't Europeans play in the AHL at any age?

You know it's a complicated system with europeans. That being said, to my knowledge, a player can't go straight from the draft to the AHL like Meszaros would. They have to at least put in one year somewhere else. Meszaros could play in the AHL in 2005-06, but not this fall. He will only be 18 at the draft of the season, and therefore ineligible.

Regardless, he is playing in Vancouver of the CHL anyways. That's basically confirmed.

Where did you hear that? Do you have a link to that...that's interesting.

Actually, he did get drafted in the CHL Import Draft by Vancouver. Too bad, Binghamton (and the sens) could use some d-fence.

Well, for one thing it's been all over Vancouver radio. Personally, I've had it confirmed that both Marek Schwarz and Meszaros are going to Vancouver, and at least for Schwarz, that was the only place where he was really interested in playing. I believe these two have the same agent, so these two went to Vancouver as package almost.
