You mean he read the thread on HF and then went with it?

Quit giving Eklund hits because he profits off of our desires.

Man one of us should just start a sight that just keeps making up crap. Just put a couple of proposals from the trade forum daily, and profit.

Eklund is just a joke.

That's pretty much what Eklund does. He scours here, the beat writers, the TSN guys and posts stuff to essentially get hits. Think about why a good portion of his trade rumors correlate with the traffic here or other places.

Hrmmm... interesting idea. We would need to create some aliases as well, aliases that have connections..

Of course, we would need to hit on about 5% of our predictions/rumors. Possibly more starting up. This could be fun

Edit:: I call dibs on the alias "Buddy McCormick". That name screams, I can trust this guy.

Discussing Eklund rumors is like arguing with someone over whether the earth is flat. It gets redundant and if you don't get it right away, you never will. I never click Eklund threads on the trade forum. I think the only reason people keep posting his crap is because the people posting it hope it's true in some way or form.. And that's when actual players are named. I can't even fathom why people bother to read into/speculate when he says something like "LA and Vancouver been having discussions." No kidding? Don't competent GMs keep in touch with every other GM throughout the league, put their feelers out and foster relationships? /rant

i call dibs on the name Timothy Randhouse, an insider who's got his sources but can't say how he knows them or where they come from. Ol Tim dedicates his life to hockey after his wife and kids die in a horrible car crash. He feels he can't do detective work to bring his family back, but he can dig around the NHL to try and get his favorite team a Cup.

Mmmk. Thinking we should all change our screen names here...

Go with a sub-tagline like FRB Insider. Then once we get our avys back, go out and find random pictures of professional looking dudes, add an 'ESPN-like graphic' for background and done!

How does one change their screenname? Just create a new account? I'm not sure I'd be willing to give up my massive post count.

You can change it once a year or 120 if you're a sponsor.
http://hfboards.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_...ername_changes

You only get one account. No dupes.

How do they enforce that out of curiosity? Email Address? IP?

Could i have one account associated to one email address and my home ISP? A second with a different email address from the mifi hotspot? a third with a third email address and my work ISP?

In all honesty, that's outside my realm of knowledge. But whatever is used works.

It's up. First person to get a rumor on HockeyBuzz wins.

dupes are usually tracked down through IP. on another forum i am staff on we have a bot set up to detect when multiple screen names are logged onto the forum from one IP address.

Hrmm.. While a good idea in principle you can mask your IP. So really, there is a basic "security" against dupes but either method could be easily tricked.

absolutely, it can be done no problem, but that is one of the easiest ways we track down dupe accounts because a lot of the population isn't smart enough to figure out how to do that.
