Gerbe buried something in the ice at practice today

Also from Harrington's blog.

Quote:
Following the workout, Nathan Gerbe took a drill to the red Sabres eye at center ice and buried something in the ice. Gerbe would not divulge what he did. A bunch of us cynical media types were joking it was the last penny pinched out of the franchise by Tom Golisano.

Hamilton also said on WGR that he wants to get to the bottom of what was buried.

He said it was something that would put the last few games behind them.

EDIT:

#Sabres Gerbe: "Just letting go of the last past few games. That was it. Nothing too special."

I hope the press never finds out exactly what this magical relic is. It's silly, but this is the sort of gesture that can have power over a team. It's like something out of a movie. I love it.

I also don't think it's an accident that Gerbe was the player chosen to plant this talisman. He is the hardest working guy on the team. Just his being there is a testament to his work ethic. I say Gerbe is the very model of a "Pegula guy".

I hope the model of a Pegula guy's a little taller. And I mean that as no disrespect to Gerbe, but this team has long needed to get bigger and that still remains the case.

Marty St. Louis

Quick choose one.

Ryan Getzlaf

Derek Roy

or

Chris Pronger

Mark Streit

_______

The argument is terrible. I like Gerbe but if we had a team full of Gerbe's we would get no where. Like Pegula said today he likes gritty players. You need a mix of grit and finesse to be succesful

________

On topic, I don't have any idea of what it could be but if it gets the team back on track I'm all for it.

Anybody else find this really, really strange?

Why are our professional hockey players drilling into the ice surface?

Well that's just my point. Taller yes sure short midgets blah blah blah I will take Gerbe's fight over 6 inches of extra height if I am given a choice.

Tim Connolly is taller than Nate Gerbe...

Have you noticed how superstitious many of them are?

It was a four-leaf clover.

Pegula wanted a player who closely represented a leprechaun.

It's about time one of the offensive players on this team buried something.

He is buried on the roster. His back hand goal showed rare talent

I heard Gerbe buried a miniature hatchet. Now the fans who like to do nothing but dwell on the past can get over themselves.

nothing wrong with being cautiously optimistic

seriously sports owners and players are superstitious nuts. Remember how nuts Steinbrenners were when they found out about that a Red Sox jersey buried under concrete in the new stadium.

They're hockey players... I would be shocked if they weren't superstitious.
