Lombardi is not a panicing GM. He has the support of the owner regardless this season, has a good amount of cap space, one of the deepest prospect pools in the NHL, has one of the youngest cores in the league, and has all of his draft picks. He is not pressured whatsoever. No matter how much we, as fans, want him to act. He will stand pat and wait for his moment like it or not.
I don't completely disagree; Dean's not the type to overreact or overpay, regardless of the scenario. But he is under pressure; he has ownership support, but in order to keep it (i.e. to avoid being on the hot seat right from opening night 2011-2012), he needs to make the playoffs. And with many teams in the Western logjam having already made moves, I'd say he's pretty motivated to shore up in the next six days.

Ryan Smyth, Justin Williams, Jarrett Stoll, Matt Greene, Jack Johnson, Marco Sturm, Brad Richardson, all players brought in via trade.
Handzus, Mitchell, Poni, Scuderi, all players brought in via free agency, and what some would believe at high prices.
Go back to class and think of some other imaginary statement you want to post on this board.

Yes and no. I don't think we'll see anything big because 29 other GM's all ask for B. Schenn when they see it's DL on the other line. So no big move. DL is right to say ****-off to them getting Schenn unless it's a big named player coming back and Hemsky/Penner aren't it. Richards is the biggest/closest thing to it and I don't know if I'd do that for a guy out with a concussion (I guess you could put Gaborik in here too).

As far as 4th line role players go - yes. We'll see some smaller trades like we did last year to get some vets like the Modin trade.

The worst thing Lombardi could do right now is make a trade. The Kings, even if they accidentally stumble into the playoffs, aren't taking a series from Vancouver or Detroit, or anybody worth a ****.

But he will anyway.

Get ready for the next coming of Anson Carter, Mark Parrish, or Rick F***ing Martin.

LA needs a top 6 winger like nobody's business

It must suck to have a GM that doesn't push the buttons in order to go for it all and win a Cup, oh wait I'm a Caps fan. Let's cry together

Are there any more salary dump guys coming off of injury like Sturm? I'd think that would be your primary candidate. Either that or an over-the-hill guy on the cheap...Arnott does seem about right.

Haven't the Kings won both meeting against Vancouver this year? I think they could beat them, just need one good series it's not really that unthinkable.

That being said, I expect them to make a minor move and that's it.

Yes, we'll trade for Halpern, Modin, Hagman.

Our GM can't trade any of our prospects/picks, since they'll all make the team, plus we'll have plenty roster space for all of them.

Ask me if I should have put a sarcasm smiley in my post.

well one of two things will happen, and you can count on it.

1. DL fails to acquire a true top-6 and fans get upset.
2. DL acquires a true top-6 and fans are upset because he overpayed

I believe DL will try Hemsky or Booth (if they are healthy), will offer something around our 1st rd pick + Voynov. If it doesn´t work it will be a 4th for Kovalev.

BTW, there is nothing wrong with our 4th line when Westgarth is not playing!

Hagman is on waivers, so Lombardi can kill two birds with one stone. Get his top 6 forward and keep all his beloved prospects and picks.

Fans should get upset if LA misses play-offs.

Something is missing here.
A strong powerfull hockey team.

It's like having the best bookkeeper, the best secretary, the best file system but no office building

A trade with LA is like pulling teeth. Someone will eventually try to do something with LA but it will be down to the wire.

Booth may be, if he is available. Voynov + Toffoli + pick?

LA will only drive the value of players up and never actually make the commitment.

Is there not enough whining on the Kings board without crying on the main boards as well? Kings will most likely do nothing. Life goes on.

This is a funny statement. Strictly speaking you can't possibly have more bad trades than good ones and vice versa.

Because what is a bad trade for one team is a ____ one for the other team.

No. They need to hold on their prospects with dear life because in 5 years, they will care the Kings to the promised land!

Glaring hole a 1st line LW. Other spots would be our entire 4th line, along with a 6th defenceman.

Martinez as 6th or 7th D is fine as long as we have someone other then Harrold or Drewiskie to interchange.
Poni, Lewis, Westie, Richie dont cut it for me on the 4th. Ideally I see Sturm coming back and filling 3rd line LW if we can find a 1st line LW. That moves Clifford down. Maybe Richie or Lewis or even Poni can stay, but need a leader on that line, even if its just a rental. Reasoner? Steckel? Talbot? Or a player of similar ilk.

Jammed with D prospects. We have the ability to let them develop, no matter how long it takes. Hickey, Teubert, Voynov, Campbell, Forbort all in this group, but maybe one of the first 3 can be moved in a package.

What can we do? What players fit our needs that may be obtainable? Thoughts? Speculate away.
Thanks for being a fan. I'll try to not half-ass any posts from now on.
