From Arthur Staple of Newsday
StapeNewsday: Just watched the replay of Staal on Staal... Pitkanen hooking Marc Staal, distracting his attention. Totally avoidable play by Eric Staal...
StapeNewsday: If an NHL player's BROTHER doesn't respect him enough to hit lower or avoid a blindside hit, what chance does a regular NHLer have?
I tend to agree..
Lol what a joke. It doesn't matter who he hits, most siblings grow up competitive with each other anyway. The blood relation should have no bearing on the situation if both of these guys take their professions seriously (which they do).
I thought he hit him in the head with his shoulder. What exactly is the new rule? I think part of it is hitting from the side (no pun intended). Earlier in the season Marc hit a guy from Calgary which they ruled was more of a hit from straight on.
Fine hit. What can Eric Staal do there? He didn't bring his arms up to make impact and didn't leave his feet and make a real attempt to hit high. Eric is 6-4... if he's going to hit someone playing the puck who's leaning forward with their head down take a guess where the impact is going to be.
Anyway just a twisted knee, doesn't sound terrible.
The word "knee" terrifies me, because a twisted knee could turn into some terrible hidden tear nobody effin knows about. Yet, i will pray that it is minor. Luckily staal can rest the next 2 days and receive whatever treatment is necessary. Then back at it friday night
