Can you imagine what happens when Burke gets a trade call while at ACC or Ricoh ?

I would hate to be the guy responsible for moving the contents of the wall, and re-setting it up at the ACC whenever meetings/discussions are held there instead of at the practice facility.

NHL GM : " Hey Burkie, I have a trade proposal for you"

Burke: "Hold it, settle down, not so fast, I need my magnets, call you back in a couple of hours"

Projectors are good, we use them all the time, and on whiteboards you can draw between objects easily enough.

Then you turn the projector off and move on.

Yep, you do move on, to Boston or Chicago or Palm Springs or wherever they are holding GM meetings, and you have your database in your laptop with you.

Honestly, Ulf, let's stop this. I recognize that people have different styles and if you prefer the Wall, that's fine with me. I doubt I am the only person who would prefer the computer, however.

Good enough?

Burke has the power (and MLSE the money) to have actual people representing the players around the league. They could stand in a field somewhere up the 400 from TO and Burke could do flybys in a chopper to see "the Big Picture"

Somehow I have the feeling that despite the fact that they have a war room wall with magnetic name tags for all players in the league, the Leaf brass also has this information on their laptops, probably in collaboration software.

It's not an either-or when beers cost 14 dollars and jerseys are 360, its a "both."

Has nothing to do with preference, has to do with using more than 1 vehicle for discussion.

Seriously, I prefer the monitor, and having access to several DB's for research is my domain, but in a conference room with 5-25 people a projector can display changing information, that can be referred to.

It isn't one or the other, it is both.

Of course, it can be! For heaven's sake all this started with me saying that there are other ways of doing this besides a "Wall" and that any implicit criticism of other teams who might not have a Wall is misplaced. Got it?

I didn't think there'd be a debate about using both, it just seemed that you didn't see value in a Wall display.

At one point, Burke says "How many ****** do we have?", and then goes on to list the "******" that he's selected: "Malone is a *****, Kesler's a *****, .." etc etc.
It's quite comical.

They also showed this wall in that documentary too.
Anyone have a link to this documentary?

My original post: Good point: I would use a database rather than a spreadsheet but sure, a computer program could easily generate all that information. I suppose a visual learner would like having it all visible as an overview on a wall. But this should not be taken as an indication that other teams who don't have a "wall" are not likewise tracking the players and prospects of all other teams in the NHL and elsewhere.

I'm not a visual learner that way. I have been in too many planning and 'visioning" sessions with sheets of paper tacked up on walls. But I certainly recognize not everybody is like me! I would use the collaborative software somebody mentioned. I have never wanted to criticize Burke for the Wall. The most I have said or would say is that there are other ways to do it also. My major point was always the italicized bit.

That would be considered a very good package of picks IMO. It gives Col a lot of options.Col already have their core franchise players. The package I proposed gives Col a chance to draft and add some serious depth to the org.

Pro's for Col

6.6 million off the books after the season
They tank and get a top 10 maybe a top 5 pick, they could also use some of the picks to move up.

TO gets their #1

If Col is selling to rebuild fat chance they get a better package. Why? No other team that is tanking is going to give them futures.

Didn't Colborne play in Denver?
