9th Place Throw-Down, Thrashers at Sabres, 7:00 PM EST

Both teams go in tied at 60 points, 5 back of the 'Canes and only one point up on Toronto. Buffalo has gone 0-3-0 on this homestand, scoring a paltry 2 goals total.

New owner, new enthusiasm? Or same old, same old vs. Atlanta? Both have lost three in a row, so someone breaks a skid tonight.

Atlanta on the road 13-15-5, Buffalo at home 12-15-5.

Byron brought back up, stands at center ice over the buried puck with Gerbe and Ennis. They come together to form Migetron, 7'2'', rugged as hell and fast as lightning. Fear struck into the hearts of the Thrashers.

Sabres lose 3-1.

These next two games are absolute must-haves. You have to beat a team you're competing with (Atlanta) and a team who is actively trying to tank (Ottawa). I think we'll see a lot of energy tonight from the team. Buffalo needs to stay out of the box early in the game, and not let Atlanta get their legs under them. If Buffalo scores an early one, I could see a rout. I'll say Buffalo wins, 5-3. The bottom-6 makes a rare cameo.

Ladd

McCormick
Pominville

Meh we lose. And we continue to slip further away from 8th, to the point where some of us on here will be saying "Look, only 12 points out of 8th with 2 games in hand! We can do this guys!".

It might be just the weather here, but I'm sensing another let-down.

Les Thrash, 4-1.

I think Pegula's speech touches them illegally and they play motivated.

I'm expecting a HUGE win. It's gonna be HUGE, Buffalo, HUGEEEE!

Yes optimism sucks. Why would anyone want the team they cheer for to do good?

You have taken the title as most negative poster on the boards. I didnt think anyone would take it away from JLR but congrats I believe you have.

I understand you hate , management, the coaches, the players, sabretooth, hsbc arena, and the colors blue and gold. But to give shots at fans that actually have faith that their favorite team will make the playoffs is stupid

I'm pumped JJ was nice enough to give me the tickets to the first game of the Pegula era!

I wouldn't go as far as saying it'll be a playoff type atmosphere, but the I have a feeling there's going to be an electric atmosphere in the arena tonight. People are clearly very excited about Pegula, and I'm expecting the crowd to show that excitement tonight. I'm hoping the crowd being fired up will fire up the team, and I think they already will be by the ownership change. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few fights tonight, guys like McCormick stepping up to show Pegula what they're made of.

I can only imagine Pegula and Black have something special planned for tonight.

Once a year there is a Geneseo Alumni Sabres game...dinner at Pearl Street + Game tickets.

This is the third year. The first year we had Kevin Sylvester speak to us and last year it was Darcy Regier. They take questions and answer. It's pretty cool. Plus there are giveaways. Someone got an autographed Ryan Miller goalie stick last year (unfortunately it was some jerk who wasn't even an alumni[friend of one] and was wearing a NYR jersey).

I was optimistic the past two GDTs, even predicted wins for us. But of course you weren't around to poke at me then.

Ron, this is your "prediction" from the Caps GDT...

"Come on Sabres, we really need to win this one."

I have to admit, I don't see either the optimism, or the win prediction.

I'm expecting a big win. I haven't been out to watch the game since the new year. If Pegula doesn't get this team in a "I want to play here" mode, then blow it up. That said, I think there is enough heart on this team to make it happen.

5-2 Sabres.
