Zherdev to Ottawa please. Young player with the possibility of resigning for cheapish and still has upside. Fits in with our rebuilding. Please please please.
There is no way Zherdev even makes it to a contender in my opinion.

I cannot believe this! Zherdev on waivers, Rivet who was traded for a 1st rounnd draft pick (Pacioretty) and Gorges, Svatos who is a proven 25 to 30 goal player.
It's crazy the type of talent you can pick up for nothing in a salary cap world!
you're living 4 years ago. Svatos hasn't done anything in the recent years and Rivet isn't able to follow the pace of the game anymore.
For the people suggesting Montreal put in a claim for Zherdev...I don't know if he's suited to play for a Jacques Martin coached team.
thats a fair point but they need some scoring help badly and if they can get some and not even have to trade for it...why not take the chance?? Most of his 2 million salary is paid up so it makes sense to me.
I highly doubt he would still be around when MTL gets thier shot though...
People are not hell bent over Zherdev... but there are a ton of teams that could use a free pickup that MIGHT provide a spark.... even if it is a long shot.
For teams slightly outside the bubble, it is a potential upgrade without giving up assets... or in the right situation, it could allow a team to move an asset and still be able to say "we are trying".
