Who finishes higher NJ or Leafs?

Since the Leafs have made things interesting in the East lately I have been all over the standings & watching more Eastern Conf games. Although, I am enjoying the push we have made, we are all seeing the rediculous run the Devils are on without Parise & Marty.

My question is do you think they will pass the Leafs? & further will they make the playoffs?

I think Lemaire should be a shoe in for the Jack Adams!

New Jersey will finish ahead of us. They are simply too unstoppable at this point.

The Devils' run will end soon. I think the Leafs will be ahead of NJ at the end of the season but neither of them will make the playoffs this year.

It looks like they are going to charge right into the playoffs. I don't envy whoever has to face them if they do get in.

I only hope the Leafs can keep pace, or perhaps take 8th once the Devils get 7th.

But that is way too much to hope.

Devils, it would appear. They have more talent by far.

I got a better question...

Who cares if neither of us make the playoffs?

It's gonna be one or the other... NJ is playing well but theyre not gonna be able to keep this run until the end of the season.

I think we both miss the dance, but finish 9-10. Ahead of atlanta and either buff or carolina.

The flip side is the pick we give Boston. A few weeks ago I was almost sure when looking behind us in the standings that they would be a guarantee as one of the teams behind us in the standings. If NJ makes it, it must be a record.

If the Devils keep playing like this, It wouldn't be so shocking that they take the 8th spot or finish 9th ahead of us/thrashers/buffalo etc.

However, I'm not too worried, as long as we win, other results don't matter much, but they have beat some of the toughest teams in the league, 8 in a row. I wish we could go on a roll like that.

If the Leafs hadn't played Ottawa and NYI then NJ would have been primed to pass us this week.. Now its only a matter of time. IMO

I hate to say it, but if I was a betting man I'd take New Jersey. Hopefully the Devils and the Leafs will overtake Carolina and the Rangers for the 7-8 spots in the East.

Doesn't matter; the odds that either make the playoffs is pretty slim. To match Montreal's 88 points from last year, we'd need 29 points in 22 games (14-7-1) and Jersey would need 32 points in 22 games (16-6-0). Not to mention Carolina only needs to go 12-9-0 and Buffalo only needs to go 14-9-1 to get 89 points.

I'm going to set my hopes high and say Toronto finishes better, but really 9th vs. 10th vs. 11th doesn't mean too much.

A lot depends on how our team plays, taking games to OT at least for a point. If we can start playing consistent and show up and beat the Habs on Thursday that gives us a much needed boost to beat teams like PIT/ATL who IMO are easier than beating the Habs @ Bell Centre.

We know for a fact that Reimer has given us a chance to win every single game, so taking that into account and hoping that Lupul and Bozak start putting some points on top of the people that are already contributing. We have a fair shot beating most teams.

Good news is that now we're done with the bottom dwellers, we face teams that we are chasing, and that is added motivation we really need. We have beaten BOS and BUF away and there is no reason why we can't do it again. We have been competitive against CAR and absolutely thrashed the the Thrashers.

Leafs aren't going to beat good teams with an 0-for powerplay.

if I'm philly, I'm praying to god that NJD doesn't make the playoffs.

that being said, I'd say NJ has a better chance of making the playoffs than we do.

5 days left till deadline. Pretty sure Burke isn't going to remain silent. + our PP sucked with Kaberle too, still managed to go 7-2-2 albeit the teams being bottom dwellers like us at the moment, but you still have to beat them.

Yeah. This would be the first time in like 19 years that the Devils might not make the playoffs but despite them being 12th in the conference they have a better shot at making it than all teams above them.

I'm still interested to see if the GM is going to buy or sell.
