Jay Bouwmeester

What is his value? Hes only 27 but he offense is lacking since he came

over from Florida. But he still is good offensesvly he is the best

defenseman to fetch a good return besides Giordano. Who is williing to

take 6.6m in salary?

He'd be difficult to move and he's not available.

I'd love to have him on the Avs as I think he would take a ton of pressure off of EJ and the defense as a whole. He's not really a fiery competitor, and his offensive game hasn't really developed, but he can eat up a ton of minutes while providing great, reliable defense and a smart transition game.

Don't think the Flames would trade him though.

I think if the Flames were going to trade Jay Bouw away we would be looking for a Number 1 center or scoring winger Cammy comes to mind

There's no way the Flames would even consider trading Bouwmeester. He's been solid defensively and he plays a ton of minutes.

Even if the Flames were out of the playoff picture I don't think trading Bouwmeester would be something they would look at.

Heatley, I think it would be a good change of scenery for both players, both have been struggling but can bounce back to form very easily...think Heatley still has more value though; maybe Glencross/Tangauy and Huskins added in, but I would do it without any extras only because JBo would probably excel in the Sharks system .

J-Bo is a salary cap casualty, hes a good player but no one will give up anything for him because of his play/cap hit.

If hes traded it will be for pennies, i cant help but laugh at the guy who said he wants a number 1 center for him. Not going to get close to that unless you take someone like Gomez back

And yes Phaneuf >JBO.

J-Bo is not struggling and does not need a change of scenery.
sure aint the up and down speedster I remember in Florida, why do so many Flames fans seem to want him gone?.... Heatley doesnt 'need' a change of scenery either, he should still net 30+ goals but I think he is far too complacent in this system....playing where there actually is more pressure would be a positive change for him....we are loaded with speed on the blueline on the right side, Boyle,Demers and White and slooow on the left, so that's why i would love to see him, would be an awesome pairing with Demers. Flames wont get anything as good as Heatley at this point, it would be an interesting swap at the very least with a potentially very good outcome for both teams, Heater and Iggy tore it up at the Olympics, they might gel very well.
edit: his post got deleted or something....oh well

Flames fans as a whole do not want Bouwmeester gone, We realize his importance to our back end and understand due to his dwindling offensive numbers he does not fully fulfill his salary thus diminishing his value on the trade market.

As for the trade you proposed, I would pass.

Iginla already has great chemistry on his left wing in Tanguay, and is producing at a clip he is expected to.

I would much rather go after a second line winger that would bolster our top six without giving up Bouwmeester.

For me personally, I would only trade Bouwmeester if it was in a deal to bring back that illusive first line center the flames have been seeking for the longest time.

At the end of the day, I am more than happy with Jay wearing a flames uniform.

as soon as you said number 1 center or scoring winger it was inevitable that cammy would be said next.

Haha, only based on salary. That comparison is so far off.

Good player with a large contract. Won't be worth it for the Flames. Plus, they're in the playoff race. Doesn't make any sense.

JBo isn't living up to that contract, that cap hit he has is big.

Bouwmeester >>> Phaneuf.

And yes, it's not even close.
