Dumpster diving 2.0: Zherdev

No interest in Hagman (understandable) but what about Zherdev? He's a UFA after the season, so no long-term cap implications, and at $2 million, his cap hit for the rest of the season would be quite low. He also has 15 goals in 47 games, and could be a legitimate goalscoring option off the wing for us. He's hit 20+ goals three times, and likely will again this year if he finishes the season in the NHL.

He's definately not a DL/TM type of player, isn't much defensively, and has been reported to have attitude problems.

Any interest, assuming he falls to us? I wasn't overly interested in hagman, but I think Zherdev could be worth the risk, considering there is no long-term risk if he doesn't work out and pure talent wise he's one of the best players available.

There were a few waiver wire skids today that have offencive abilities. Zherdev could be a stop gap if we had the room.

We could make room I guess but I dunno. He does have speed and that, is something that we desperately need in my opinion.

He has the attributes we need, he also has the negative attributes that get him benched in short order. That would be a no.

Remember how good this guy was supposed to be? Everyone was talking about how he was a pure 40+ goal scorer with natural talent blah blah blah..

...Those talks didn't last too long at all.

dime a dozen underachieving Euro.

Hes like the Ed O'Bannon of the NHL... Maybe hell start selling used cars soon too.

Next please.

I'd take a chance on him if DL isn't planning on dealing prospects at the deadline.

Try Zherdev on a line with Kopi and Sturm.

Keep Smyth Stoll and Williams

Go with Brown Zus and Simmonds

Didn't he go AWOL or something on one of the Flyers recent road trips?

I'm usually OK with taking a chance on temperamental Eastern Euros, but Z just seems like too much of a head case. TM would HATE him.

Ive seen female figure skaters who backcheck harder than this guy. If this move happens you can file it under worthless alongside the Steve Heinze and Trent Klatt "experiment."
