Odd trade. So ANA upgrades while Tampa downgrades but sheds salary. Wierd.

I totally forgot that we still have Smith in Norfolk as well. He can be brought up if McE is any worse than Ellis in backup duty.

Not complaining about this, leaves us with Emery-Ellis for a bit till Hiller is back.

Not giving up anything to get him, if he doesn't do the job we can trade / waive him at the end of the year or something.

oh my, the Ducks dug deep for that one. I can't believe Ellis got anything other than a 1-way ticket to the minors.

Ellis is terrible. I feel bad for Hiller. The guy was one of the very top goalies in the league this year and then these problems.

I never thought I'd see a trade where Dan Ellis was the best piece being moved.

No confidence in Emery? I thought he had a good couple games in the AHL? Especially with the cap hit for next season, and seeing that a good performance from him right now is a question mark as well, I say accquiring Ellis is a bad move.

He is getting back up to speed, hasn't faced NHL shooters in a while, it gives the Ducks two legitimate options going forward. As a Kings fan, I am not happy about this deal

Ellis is now gone, and Smith will be pickedup by NYI on re-entry (). Who will be the backup now in TB?

Hiller is essentially going through what forced Jeff Hackett to retire, no? Yikes.

Well considering Hiller has an issue which can take any period of time to recover from it just gives us insurance more then anything else with an Emery-Ellis tandem.

Worse thing happens, we buy him out / waive him end of the year or something, no big deal really.

We will see Friday. Ellis is better insurance than McFacepalm, so if Emery is still not healthy enough, we have someone who could be relied on.

Fair enough. I would have given Emery a game or two, see how he performed in the NHL before making that deal though. I would think that this deal would still be available come Monday. But the other side of the fence is better safe than sorry, and you can always send him down to get rid of the cap hit next year if you need to I guess, so no harm done.

Dizziness + fatigue as they couldn't diagnose the issue, as someone pointed out earlier it's the same issue that forced Hackett to retire

By this calculation your backup next year would earn 0 dollars.
