Does Timmins have to show up for the second day of the draft?

Eh, more defensive depth. Guess Spacek's injury is pretty bad. I never cared much for Sopel but he was decent for the Hawks' run. Not sure how he's been in ATL this year though.

Dawes is pretty much a career NHL/AHL tweener IMO.

Didn't really care for Maxwell either so this trade is just a big pile of meh for me.

My buddy heard Hamrlik could be hurt, so either he is, or Spacek is done for the season.

Nigel Dawes better go to Hamilton.

Sopel is actually very solid on the PK so he'll help us out there a lot, I'm guessing Spacek is gone for the year but this better not mean that Weber is scratched since we have Subban, Wiz and Sopel who all play the right side.

Sopel is a decent PP guy but all our PP d-men are right handed shots, which is an issue.

Not impressed at all.

I guess Spacek is done if we are picking up yet another d-man. And Dawes makes no sense for our organization.

Seriously Pierre...can we get some freaking grit for out team???

Meh, all prospects in the league have "some upside". Maxwell's was Dawes and Sopel. Not much else to say.

What exactly was the point of this trade? I know we're thin on D, but we SERIOUSLY could not do better than Sopel?

Sopel and Dawes? Great move by Atlanta. A new start for Maxwell. Fine pick for the value of both players. For us....it's depth. Next....

Meh

Sopel is a rental and Dawes is another midget and most likely a career AHLer

It's OK in the context that we needed help on D but nothing groundbreaking.

lol funny trade, but I don't like the fact that this bring no physicality and It's only a stop gap move but then we will not see Picard with Sopel in and he played well in the playoff.

Dawes is exacly what the Habs need if he was 6 inch more and could fight.

Stop trading our picks. How the hell do you want to build your team when you flush picks in the toilet ...

This is not the end.

Decent depth move, we needed another vet on the backend and Sopel will fit in well.

Maxwell was clearly out of the fold with Plekanec, Gomez, Halpern, Eller, Desharnais, Leblanc, Bournival all showing more promise.

You can guarantee this is not the only move Gauthier makes. Sopel is another RHD, I see Weber being moved with Kostitsyn or Gomez + picks for a great forward.
