Like I said, he's a good player without the aggressive nature. I've heard often he doesn't do enough of the little things. Taking a hit to make a play and all that.

By the way, maxwell's 20 games were a joke. He wasn't even put on center and he wasn't put in anything resembling a scoring role. Last year, playing with 3rd/4th liners he played an average of 8:46 a game for 13 games. No points. Didn't even play as a center. I looked at him and he looked timid. He looked a little too 'safe' and not enough of a go getter I suppose. That's his biggest obstacle.

Dudley's already said he will be our call up and will be playing in the ATL this year. I trust Dudley's vision and will wait until I see him in a Thrasher sweater before I make my observations.

Maybe. I don't know how many teams are looking for a 34 year old not-very-mobile Dman on the downswing, who is UFA in a few months, and is not going to resign. Maybe a little better but not much better.

really? Brett Sopel? the same Sopel that was often a scratch in his prime from 05-09, up until his hot playoff appearance from last year? borderline 5/6 aging UFA's dont return that much.

considering you don't even know his proper name no wonder you don't have the facts straight - wasn't often scratched in his prime. A team player and a great PK guy

I just have a question. No offense intended, just asking for information. Why did Sopel only play over 60 games once since 2005 (last year)? Was he hurt?

05-06 he played 68 games
06-07 he played 64 games
07-08 he played 58 games
08-09 he played 23 games

he plays a tough game blocking shots and tends to pay the price with some injuries here and there.....in 07-08 he had a broken finger.....in 08-09 he had elbow surgery that put him out of commission from New Years on that year

Wow. I wasn't looking at the combined stats for the whole year. I totally messed that up.

he was not scratched often - once in a while does not say often especially when some of the times were maintenance days for an older player

true it was wrong, but the conspiracy theorist in me says that it probably was the plan and they just changed there minds, it did end up happening a few days later.

Unless you are Brent Sopel there is no reason to not laugh at a guy for blowing his back out picking up a cracker. It's just a really silly situation.

What a sad, gray world it must be.

Imagine walking out of a back alley plastic surgeon's office in Montreal, looking in the mirror and seeing Jim Slater. Creepy.

That's the best pic of Sopel I've seen in years. He looks so young right there.

ATL received a prospect and a 4th rounder for Sopel (for less than 2 months) and an AHL'er.

I am happy with that return.
