lmao Matt Barry on his hockeybuzz blog:

Quote:
How ironic would it be if some team actually claimed Sturm on waivers tomorrow really screwing over the Kings now that Lokti is allegedly done for the year. Burke should do it just to spite Lombardi for taking Schenn. LOL
wow that would be a tragedy

I would be happy with an announced contract extension for Williams.

Random, but ya, J-Will definitely deserves a contract extension. Him & Old Man Smitters have stayed healthy all year long *knock on wood*

Doughty is an RFA so I don't think his numbers will be astronomical. Plus he knows the Kings gotta resign his best bud as well(if he's still a king)

I still think DL is gonna offer him a 3 or 4yr deal in the summer. I agree he is a very good all around player.

Hasn't he been healthy for about the last 12 months?

Did Hemsky actually score the game winners in all those series? If so WOW. I remember Gelinas scoring OT/GW against VAN,DET and SJ. I think he also was the one who scored the goal that went in but wasn't reviewed in Game 6? That would have been a record for the ages!

They send Larson back to Edmonton. They need to shed some salary as Larson comes in at 1.7 or so. If they ship Upshall to the Kings they dump another 2.3

Plus Upshall is free agent so he is going to be looking for like 3 million in salary.
Which happens to be Poni's salary number that is being taken off the book for the Kings.

Yotes get somewhat of a big name in Hemsky for another year to see how the ownership situation plays out. Then tries to resign him to a bigger number.

So it kind of makes sense.

LA needs a goal scoring LW who fits in age wise with the young core and will be around for at leaset a couple seasons.

Booth averages 23 goals a season to Hemsky's 19 AND has a 30 goal yr under his belt. Yes Hemsky is a better point producer but Booth brings goals with the potential of becoming a solid 30 goal guy playing with Kopitar.

Booth is only a yr younger and both have had injury problems. However Hemsky is an UFA in 2012 while Booth is signed for 4 more years after this season. That gives LA more certainty when looking at how their lineup will look in the next 4 seasons.
Booth-Kopitar-Brown are all signed for that time period.

Finally Booth is likely to cost LA less. FLO is drafting well the last few seasons and have a very good young goaltender and 4-5 very good dmen already in the system. A deal with LA for Booth would likely land them LA's 1st in 2011 and probably a combination of Moller/Hickey/Teubert/Muzzin and maybe even Voynov.

Yeah, but why would Florida trader Booth? We'd have to grtossly overpay and IMO he's just not worth it. Good player, but not durable enough.

One in the hand is worth two in the bush. You all drink too much kool-aid to get teh concept. Even your savior said he'd go the chicago route if it meant getting the cup for sure.

I wonder what you guys smoked/ingested as kids!

The funny thing is you would think that Chicago went the way of the 1997 Florida Marlins the way some of these people talk.

Chicago is right where the Kings are in the standings, they have a championship banner in the rafters and they have all their best players signed to long term contracts. Chicago is far from one and done, but if that makes the kool-aid drinkers feel good about themselves...

I still think the Chicago model is the way to go.

Barry and Eklund are in a business where no one can really say for certain if they are actually hearing those rumors or not. That being said, their track records speak for themselves.

I highly doubt LA has a deal in place with Phoenix, not going to happen.

IF anything, the only guys I can see LA being interested in are Upshall, Boedker, and Tikhonov(sp).

Maybe Teubert/Hickey-Boedker/Tikhonov kind of trade.

20 minutes till we see if Sturm is claimed by anyone, and we're allowed to make a move.

Still think he'll be claimed.

Either the Leafs or Canadiens will take him.

I agree....any team that's in a playoff spot/trying to get in one, that has the cap space, and needs offense, would be smart to claim him. I also think dean is prepared for him to get claimed as well...
