LA Kings/New Jersey Devils

Ok, let's quit the sweet talk;

To Devils:
Alex Ponikarovsky
Brayden Schenn
Jack Johnson
1st Rounder

To Kings:
Zach Parise
Anton Volchenkov
Rights to Ashton Bernard

Thoughts?

I honestly don't know what to think of this trade.

I think New Jersey would welcome JJ and would love to land Schenn.

L.A would miss both of those guys, but Parise would be huge for them and Volchenkov is a damn good stay at home d-man.

I think the 1st rounder might scare away Kings fans. They might think it's a little too much... who knows.

Good proposal, though.

No way we give up our 40+ goal scorer AND our best defenseman.

Brayden Schenn
Jack Johnson

for

Parise

imo as a devils fan that would be fair, we're stacked at LW and we could use a upgrade at C and D

terrible deal..

Take out Volchenkov and that deal is a slight overpayment for Parise. Like the Devils would need to throw in a mid round pick.

Add in Volchenkov and its extremely lopsided.

We aren't trading Parise for an impending FA.. JJ and Schenn fine, you can keep Poni.

and why the hell do you want the rights for Bernard? guy's never sniffing the NHL.

Because Johnson and Schenn for Parise hasn't been beaten to death enough, yet.

Kings fans tend to overrate every player in their system, espacially Brayden Schenn. So I just wanted to see wich reaction it would be if making a deal for a proven 1st line winger. Kings fans tend to think their are overpaying just like the Devils fans. It's just interesting to see. (Btw Ashton Bernard is just a throw in)

I think that given the contract situation (ie RFA, more than a rental and guaranteed at least another year, exclusive negotiation, and possible compensation) of Parise, a deal revolving around Schenn + JJ + a first would be a decent value.. I originally thought it was a slight overpayment, but now I think it's about right.

There is always a lot of talk of Schenn to the Devils as a package for Parise, but wouldn't New Jersey be more interested in a package built around Bernier? That could be their goalie for the next 15 years right there...

Is it that bad of an offer? JJ becomes our number one defensemen and will score a lot more points than Volky will in one week. Schenn becomes the missing center we need, plus another first, which would give us two and Lou the opportunity to move up if necessary in this year's draft and grab the Swede winger. I've seen a lot worse proposals.

Now, if Lou knows for sure that Zach wants to re-sign, just re-sign him and I'll be very happy.

Take Volchenkov and Poni out and I might do it, but only if Lou knows that Parise wants out of NJ after a year.

With those guys in, no chance. The Devils aren't rebuilding, yet you want us to give up our best forward and best defender for a package that is mostly futures.

Zach + Volch are worth more than that..

There is value there... but its not near what it would take to move both pieces

the devils have positively no interest in Ponikarovsky.

goalies have little trade value. Bernier could possibly be a piece in a potential deal, but certainly not the main piece or anything close to it

That wouldn't get Parise alone.

Jack Johnson is untouchable. Him and Doughty are going to be a force for the next decade.

Thats IF Kovy gets his game back. The 50 goal, 95-100pt game that is. Everyone thought they would be a force this year and look how things turned out.

So you know very well why Kings fans are hesitate to trade Schenn for the likes of Hemsky, Penner, Cammalleri, Gaborik etc etc.

Than dont say they tend to overrate Brayden Schenn. After all you know why.

No kings fans just dont want to trade Schenn for some marginal upgrade or help at a position they dont need... dont get it twisted.

This however is no marginal upgrade, and I would do it without hesitation.
