Game Day No. 59 Rochester @ Binghamton

Game Day No. 59

Via Joy.

2/26/2011 3:30 PM EST

Matchup: Rochester Americans at Binghamton Senators, 7:05 p.m., Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Affiliations: Rochester is the American Hockey League affiliate of the Florida Panthers. Binghamton has been affiliated with the Ottawa Senators since 2002.

Season series: B-Sens are 4-1-0-1.

Standings: Through 58 games, the B-Sens are 32-20-3-3 (70 points), sitting fourth in the East Division and sixth in the Eastern Conference. Through 60 games, the Americans are 27-27-3-3 (60 points), sitting last in the North Division (seventh) and 14th in the Western Conference.

Ranks: B-Sens -- 3rd out of 30 teams in scoring (3.34 goals per game), 10th in goals against (2.74 per game), 1st in power play (61-of-259), 18th in penalty kill (189-of-230). Americans -- 22nd in scoring (2.7 goals per game), 25th in goals against (3.15 per game), 6th in power play (50-of-238).

Last games: The B-Sens are coming off a 7-4 win over the Syracuse Crunch last night. The Americans are coming off a 5-3 win over the Manitoba Moose last night.

Notable: Rochester has not been beaten in regulation in eight games since a 3-0 loss to the B-Sens on Feb. 11, winning seven. ... The B-Sens have won four straight against the Americans, but are 1-1-0-1 against them at home this season. ... Rochester has the top-ranked road power play in the league with 29 goals in just 103 chances. The B-Sens have the third-worst penalty kill at home with 29 goals allowed on 121 chances, but have the top-ranked home power play with 33 goals in 126 chances. ... The Panthers recalled forwards Michael Repik and Bill Thomas from the Americans Friday. Repik is Rochester's leading scorer with 11 goals and 34 assists in 53 games. Thomas has 11 goals and 17 assists in 41 games. ... The Americans added to their forward corps with the recall of Ryan Del Monte from the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays. ... This is the final meeting between these regional rivals at the Arena this season. .. Florida just acquired Tim Kennedy in a trade with the New York Rangers. Wonder if they'll assign him to Rochester just for tonight if Barry Brust starts to set up a rematch of this:

Just kidding. But that was my first thought when I heard about the trade. ... Of course, the expectation going into tonight is that Pascal Leclaire will start in goal for the B-Sens. But that is not definite. ... Unrelated to this game, but the Hershey Bears are in a bit of trouble having lost five of their last eight, and are now without an AHL goalie due to all their own injuries and one with the Washington Capitals that forced the big club to sign and recall Todd Ford, who allowed three goals in less than a minute the other night. Very rough situation for the Bears, who will start ECHLer Jared DeMichiel tonight and have signed a guy who has barely played this season (in the CHL and ECHL) in Bobby Jarosz to a PTO as his backup. And they are only six points ahead of the B-Sens in second place in the East Division, with the B-Sens holding a game in hand. Interesting stuff.

Promotions: B-Sens season tickets The first 1,000 fans at the Arena will receive a B-Sens cowbell courtesy of MeadWestvaco. I will be packing Advil.

Watch: AHL Live.

Listen: You can listen to the B-Sens' broadcast on 1430 The Team.

& WINR AM 680 they also stream.

Twitter: I will be live tweeting the game as @PSBJoyOnTheSens. You can also follow the B-Sens (@BSens_Hockey) and Americans (@AmerksHockey) for in-game updates.

Up next: The B-Sens wrap up a three-in-three weekend with a road game against the Adirondack Phantoms at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Below via Zeke.....

Rochester Americans.
Last 10 games
6-3-0-1

Binghamton
Last 10 games
9-0-1-0

Binghamton will go with 10 forwards again tonite & 7 D-men.

To be honest I do NOT know how KK has them playing so well with all of the call ups.

Comments, suggestions always welcome...........

Wouldn't be surprised if he's actually too hurt to play, but his career could potentially be saved by a strong stretch and he needs to give himself that chance.

Way to go Corey. Think that's his first AHL goal. I hope he's up in the A for good.
