I think worth while for the Habs to consider it. Top 6 minutes or solidify the bottom 6.

He would be a welcome addition to our roster. I don't see what else we could trade right now to fill the top 6 without creating a hole in the defense or hurting our farm.

He is a UFA at the end of the year. He has grit and can contribute offensively. He is fimilar with the Northeast division playing for Boston.

I think he would help overall.

Pacioretty Gomez Gionta
Kostitsyn Plekanec Cammalleri
Sturm Desharnais Pouliot
Moen Halpern Eller

ex. Darche/Pyatt

Seems decent for me. It won't hurt IMO. Adds experience. I don't want to seem like oh Montreal should pick up this guy or that guy.

I personally think Sturm would gel well with the group of guys we have and his is gritty as well. Something we coudl use. I am not saying it would put us over the hump for a cup winner, but it helps keep our whole roster solid.

People wondering if Sturm was bad, he really wasn't. He looked decent to good on our team. He got injured and missed like thirteen games and just got back two games ago, but he was on our first line last night with Simmonds and Kopitar; he even got a point.

He wasn't awful. Either a trade is coming, or we're just gonna call Loktionov back from the AHL.

I would think Strum will get claimed before he gets to the Pens imo. He could help though for sure. With Orpik hurt for a month now I think we have 12 regulars OUT. Btw is Commodore a ufa after this year or no ? He's really been that bad for the Jackets ? I knew he was way overpaid but I always liked him. However I havent seen him play for a few years.

Commodore is a decent 5-7 guy but he had some issues with Arniel in Columbus regarding ice time, hence being sent down.

Surprised to see Sturm on waivers - what did LA give up to get him from the B's?

A conditional 7th, I believe.

So nothing. We got him for free.

I'm guessing to play in Hershey. Troy Mann (assistant coach) was Fordo's coach in Columbia.

He's already been playing in Hershey on an AHL-contract. Washington signed him to an NHL-contract be their emergency starter now that both Holtby and Sabourin are significantly injured. He'll continue to play in Hershey unless one of Varlamov or Neuvirth get hurt.

Still wouldn't be shocked to see the Caps look to add a goalie with a 2-way NHL contract to help out in Hershey and bump Ford down the depth chart.

i dont think the habs have the space to pick up sturm habs fans, unless they send a few waiver-exempt guys down.

Ditto to SJ, Van, Det, Chi, Bos, Nj, Phi

I like Sturm and hope he doesn't end up on the Habs, although it would be interesting and I think he could still help a team.

Not sure where you're getting that Sturm is "gritty" though. He doesn't play scared and he had that amazing shift in 2008 where he took Hamrlik out twice, jumped the d-man and scored the winning goal, but he can often go 20 or more games at a time without throwing a hit or being involved in anything physical.

This quote from Terry Murray about Marco Sturm on the 23rd says it all:

"Hes on a top line, hes going to play important minutes for us, and now is his opportunity to really show us who he is, in every shift and every game. In the early part of it, we did not see the Marco Sturm that we expected, because of the physical conditioning side of it, and emotionally he hadnt made the breakthrough yet.

It wasn't just about scoring goals, his overall play was in question

Commodore at half price > Andy Sutton/Andreas Lilja at full price.

Works for me. I hope someone gives Belak a shot too.

Boynton will clear. Not sure about Sturm.

Is he THAT bad? We have a definite need for a 6th/7th guy in Washington

Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if a team picked him up as a #7 a la the Blackhawks last year. He just doesn't fit in well with Chicago's attempt at a high octane system.

Would the flames take a shot strum? They have cleared some salary, and feaster said he does not want to mess up chemistry, and they basically have nothing to offer another team as far as draft picks prospects etc, would be an upgrade over Tom kostopolous IMO

Goalie Todd Ford (WAS) has been put on waivers, as well.
