I LOL'ed when I read about it. They are trying to get our players (i.e: versteeg, boynton) and they'd probably grab more of them if they were for sale. Quite similar to the thrashers.

They probably got fooled by his play in the cup finals, where he was downright steady. They'll learn soon enough.

PHI will assign (temporarily) James van Riemsdyk to AHL to make room for Boynton. With Pronger out, PHI needs Boynton/Gustafsson now.

LOLOLOLOLOL! They are actually playing him!! That's so sad they sent down Riemsdyk for him.

JVR was picked behind Kane.

Now he's getting scratched to make room for Boynton.

Sad.

They aren't playing him, it is just that the Flyers are already at the max roster because of injuries to Betts and Pronger, and they already called up a defender from the AHL to fill in for Pronger tonight. So in order to be able to claim Boynton, they need to demote a player and JVR is the only player that doesn't need to go through waivers. After tonights game the defender they called up from the AHL will go back, JVR will go to the big club, and Boynton will be in the pressbox as Pronger is only expected to miss tonights game.

That'd be funny if Gustafsson couldn't outplay Boynton.

You folks are brutal. Lets not forget that Boynton was a part of the Hawks Stanley Cup team. In fact he was on the ice when Kane scored the winning goal and he probably feels pretty good that Flyers picked him up. There is no need to throw jibes even after he has gone. Say what you will about him, but he has balls and I guarantee that he has made friends with many of the Hawk players.

Boynton wasn't horrible last year, but he has been absolutley atrocious this season.

He may have "balls" but he does not have any brains.

Better than Matt Walker. Boynton isn't a bad #6 when your #5 is Meszaros.

Boynton would be a bad #6 if your #5 was the ******* love child of Orr and Harvey.

Most of Hawks fans in GDTs started praying every time they realised he's in lineup.

You really haven't been paying attention this year if that's what you think. Or maybe you're trying so hard to be PC that it's impairing your judgement.

Saying "he was on our Cup-winning team" doesn't make him good. Nor does saying he has balls or friends in the locker room.

It's better for our team on the ice that Boynton is gone. Plain and simple.

You just don't get it do you. It's called respect. Just wish him well and let it go. To continue to bash him even after he is gone from the team shows no class. Its sad that that has to be explained.

I don't care how much respected he is/was... he should just retire

Who's not wishing him the best? I'm downright jealous of him.

For the second year in a row, he's been picked off of waivers (which for many others means the end of their NHL careers) to play for the Cup favorite. He's already turned his subpar defense into the most any hockey player could ask for, and he could very well be doing it again this year.

Trust me, he doesn't need "respect" from a bunch of anons on a message board.

Well he is our number 7 anyway. O'Donnell is our number 6

Walker is a much better player then Nick Boynton. Walker simply was put in a role to play more then he should have.

Sad.
Just to clairify, JVR was only sent down because of the roster limit. It wasnt to make room for Boynton it was because Gustafsson had been recalled and Pronger wasnt playing. Boynton didnt even make the trip to Ottawa, he went straight to Philly. Immidietly after the game Gustafsson was sent down and JVR was right back up. He was sent down also because he's the only Flyer other than Bobrovsky (who was needed) that isnt waiver eligible. The "demotion" wasnt at all based on his performance.
