White Wants to Re-sign With Sharks

Great news if you ask me!

Quote:
Yes, he’d want to re-sign with the Sharks when his current contract expires on June 30.

“Without question,” White said. “How could you not want to paly on one of the top teams every year and have a good shot at winning?”

Eager-Pavelski-Mitchell line is just painful. Wellwood on the 4th line...

2nd (and Joslin, in reality) for White was already a fine value for a rental. If he signs on the dotted line for something close to his $2,995,000 from this year, it's an outright steal. Playing on bad teams with high media exposure (Toronto, Calgary from last year and early this year) probably has something to do with his desire to play for a winner, too.

It's an outright steal? you sure? I mean, he didn't look very good at all in the last game and I'm not just talking about the rim around the boards play. He seems pretty bad in his own zone and could be one of those d-men who don't care about D.

I've liked Ian White since I got to see a lot of him last year with Toronto. I think he's a good fit on this team and should be resigned provided he wants 3.25 or less.

"I'd like to resign Ian White. He's the kinda player this team needs. Like Ehrhoff... only not German... Germans are so 2007."

Depends on Braun. If we have Braun, Demers and Boyle, we may not want to pay $3m+ for White. We might prefer to find a physical defenseman instead, or it might be better for the team to see about signing Nemo.

You're basing it off of two games. lol I've watched him play plenty and he is not one of those d-men. A 2nd round pick for him as a rental, even if he didn't care about D, would be a steal considering what he provides to the team in the short-term. If he re-signs, this trade is highway robbery as long as the contract is in the 3.5-4 mil range.

I like the idea of Eager and Pavelski playing together. Pavs throws a lot of pucks on net and a big body like Eager may get some deflections, screens or rebounds.

I still wish we'd have traded for Buff in the off season.

This is good news. Hopefully it'll be at a decent price.

Even in the last game he provided more than anyone not named Boyle or Vlassic on the blue line. He is a good skater with some speed and he recovers well. Sure he's not perfect but he is a legit top 4 defenseman. I've been very happy with him so far and if he want's to resign I hope the DW can make it happen.

Yes, I am basing it off 2 games lol. I realize this is unfair too. I just don't want to get too high on him for nothing and I want to stay objective.

However, Boyle is getting old and needs to step down very soon. He has already had a drop off from last year imo.

White does look pretty darn mobile with a good shot.. I can say that.

I'd take his comments with a grain of salt. I mean, what else is he going to say? That he wants out as soon as possible? Just seems like typical brown-nosing to a player's new organization.

Pretty much. Campbell said pretty much the same thing.

Campbell made it clear he wanted to wait until the end of the season to decide. Players often give a diplomatic answer. What's to say he's not tired of bouncing around, landed with a good org and is interested in staying put. I mean, he didn't say he would would re-sign, just that he would like to.
