Any tips for getting Celtics playoff tickets? I really want to get to a couple of games!
Stubhub will be the way to go there too. Or, you could buy season tix.

Actually I do not know. I know that for baseball MLB sets the prices but I thought that for hockey the teams set the price. I could be wrong.

Let some other fools spend 150 bucks face value on first round balcony tickets. That is absolutely insane. Prices are almost double what I expected them to be. They can pound sand at these amounts.

So happy that I have ST. Public sale prices are criminal, shame on Jeremy.
The 329, row 2 is actually pretty fair IMO. No season tickets I would have jumped on it. With season tickets I pass.

I don't think they are doing group sales this year either. Last year I bought 10 tickets through my group sales rep for people I work with. No one called me this year.

It's not the NHL, but it's probably not Jacobs directly, it's whoever is in charge of marketing for the Bruins I would assume. Whatever the case, it's the Bruins setting the prices.

That's why I'm asking, I was thinking of MLB but I'm not sure either.

Although, IIRC, the Sox set their own price for the divisional round. I know MLB sets for World Series, but not sure about the LCS.

Sorry -- should have said "the team" instead of "Jacobs"

I think that MLB sets the price for all 3 rounds. But if not the Division round MLB definitely is in charge of LCS and World Series prices.

Would someone be kind enough to pm me the presale password? I might drive down for game 3 given that it's over the Easter Weekend.

Thanks.

Well, I wouldn't say criminal. Maybe high (slightly above market for 2 of the 3 possible opponents) But I don't consider it criminal when I sell at market price

...then again, Jacobs is mafioso...so criminal might be appropriate.

Market price for 13th row in the corner balcony where the Bruins shoot once is only $5 per ticket than row 2 on blueline. Id say some seats are above market value....

Actually no pairs left so the market paid for them. I don't get why anyone would choose those prices when they can basically go and pick their seat on stubhub for about the same price.

True enough I guess. But if someone wants a fair deal on tickets without going the scalper route there is no good alternative when the box office price for a first round playoff game is close to $200 a pair for the worst balcony seats.

For the price of two tickets you could probably take a weeks trip to Vegas.

I'll guess that the tickets were purchased with the intention of trying to resell them. Although I don't know how a decent profit will be turned at those prices.

Obviously they don't have nearly as many tiers in the playoffs as in the regular season. So some locations are gonna be out of whack with market prices. But as a whole, I think they maxed out on what they thought secondary market prices will be in be if we play the rangers...maybe they are slightly higher. And if it's the habs, I think they are likely a hair (10%ish) lower than market.

They obviously researched the steep incline in secondary market prices the second half of the season. And they plan on taking full advantage of them in the playoffs.

And they owe the NHL half of what the revenue from a regular season would be for revenue sharing I THINK.

Jacobs/the Bruins are justified with charging these extreme prices on ticketmaster for a playoff game. I cant imagine there are more than 1500 pairs for sale, they will be sold before the game starts and there is no reason for him to set the prices low enough that ST holders can grab them up and make money on them.

For these reasons I wouldn't be shocked if the prices tomorrow are about 10 bucks less a ticket to non ST's. Its definitely too much though for me to grab a pair for my buddies, forget trying to make money off them!

ST holders get a good deal. Compared to prices across the NHL ours are very fair after this year's raises. I think they are close to the ceiling becuase fans who want to go to games and not sell the tickets as an investment will soon be priced out.

These high prices are definitely going to the revenue sharing bill so the B's can keep as much of the concession and ST holder money.

That sums this debacle up quite nicely. These face value amounts are roughly what you'd expect second hand, for balcony anyways.

I think a series against Montreal gives you a "sky is the limit" type market. I could see upper/corner balcony pairs set around 450. I wouldn't pay it, but plenty people would.

I actually tried to buy a pair, twice. Two separate tries, different locations.
Good seats in my estimation.
But when I clicked to submit payment.
I got error messages.
Both times.

Don't know whether or not to be sad, or to count my blessings.

I'd say the latter. My friend actually had a similar experience. He tried a couple times and it wouldn't let him check out. You'll probably be glad you did...er didn't

Why are the tickets purchased so fast off ticketmaster when you can pick your seat for the same price and maybe even cheaper off stubhub but those seats sit there for weeks?

Thanks Chuck but I think I might just wait to see if I can find a better deal on the secondary sites. I was thinking balcony seats would be in the 50's...I was way off.
