Just a thought, would you guy drop the hammer to bring in Hemsky and Penner. Both would be amazing with Koivu as a true #1 line.

Bouchard, Barker, Gillies, Scandella, and Hacket.

Do it Fletcher! [Trade deadline madness has taken over!]

Penner-Koivu-Hemsky
Lats-Brodziak-Havlat
Clutter-Cullen-Miettinen

Awesome!

Not really...

I wouldn't like that deal at all.

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat, but the Oilers would be foolish if they took that deal. We'd be looking at least one 1st, if not 2 1st rounders. They'd most likely want 2 of the 3 (Granlund, Scandella, Zucker) + a couple of roster players to make salaries work = not worth it lol

Hemsky and Penner are both owed $4 million + next year (and then become UFA's in 2012). The Wild already have $50 million on the books for next season, and will to call up about a half dozen new players (or sign them). Don't think the numbers work on that one.

Plus, Penner and Latendresse could play together and form the fattest, out-of-shape line in all of hockey!

Update: TSN is speculating that Penner would require a 1st rounder, similar to the Mike Fisher deal. No way I'm doing that!

Lats done for the year IMO. Makes it even more important we go out and get another top six winger.

I'd give up a 1st + Cuma/Gillies if that would get it done, especially if we could get a 3rd or 4th back. The draft isn't terribly deep this year.

Penner may be "out of shape", but he's averaged 25g and 50pts over the last four years on a craptastic Edmonton team.

The value of Cuma/Gillies is minimal right now. I'm sure it would have be at least Zucker/Scandella.

Penner to the Kings for 1st, Conditional 2nd, and Teubert. Yeah, we didn't have that kind of firepower.

It's looking more and more like we're going to be standing pat.

Where did the rumor that Khudobin has been moved come from?

It came from a blog from some Boston writer. Doesn't make any sense to me though? Unless we were planning on moving a D spec in another deal.

Trading Khudobin makes sense. He's a UFA at year's end and not part of the future plans of the Wild. With Hackett, Kuemper, Endras and possibly Harding Minnesota has an backlog of goalies next season.

-I hear the price for marginal centers is "stupid" right now, but the price often comes down at about 1:50 p.m., so we'll see if the Wild can upgrade its depth at center with Mikko Koivu still sidelined

UHHHH...why not trade Madden then?

Because Madden is a big part of what they're doing right now?

Because it's nice to have veteran presence when you're trying to make a playoff run/if Madden gets traded, I think I'm next on the depth chart.

Because we need him. Do we want Almond and Peters as half of our centers during a playoff chase? I know I don't.

I'm more than fine with not getting Penner at what it cost, although it sucks that LA got him. I wish he went out East.

So a 4th line center is a big part of their long term goals? Got it.

Call up Colton Gillies and throw him at center.

Ummm, do you understand the difference between 'right now' and 'long term'? Because I think it's a big one.

Gillies? Honestly? Play a marginal NHL player out of position in the middle of a playoff chase... do you want us to fail?

Sometimes you have to think of the short-term goals too. Like getting to the playoffs.
