Lappy didn't sign yet.

I guess it wasn't such a shoe-in that Lappy would sign in Montreal (like we heard from many many people)

Nice deals for the Flames. Ritchie is a guy that could fill the skates of Conroy pretty easily IMO. Who ever pays Conroy what he's asking for will be insane. He just isn't worth the money. It will be interesting to see what Simon gets as far as dollars goes. Still, a very good siging for the Flames there.

I have to question the Lapperiere rumor. $5 million per year over four years? What fool would pay that for a player of that ilk? Man, that has Martin Lapointe written all over that deal. If the Avs do sign him to that, they deserve to get railed when the CBA dust settles. A journeyman quality player making that type of coin is obscene.

I think its $5m over 4 years. $5m per year would be even worse than Martin Lapointe

Lappy 4-year, $5M deal?

Surely he could get more than that...that's not even the league average.

Unless it's a typo (on the website and the TV), I guess it's true.

"Madden, an unrestricted free agent, and Pandolfo, a restricted free agent, signed multi-year contracts, team president Lou Lamoriello said. Madden, 31, was rewarded by the usually frugal Devils with a five-year, $20-million US deal.

Pandolfo's deal is a four-year deal worth $4.4-million per season, with incentives can go as high as $5.8-million."

It does say that Pandolfo's deal is worth 4.4 million a year, but it has to be a mistake. That would be insane to give this type of player a deal worth 4.4 a season with CBA right around the corner. My guess is 4.4 million in total over 5 years, or 1.1 million per season. Someone made a typo....

Bergen Record

The Devils also re-signed restricted free agent left wing Jay Pandolfo. Although terms were not released, an NHL source said it was a four-year deal for close to $1.5 million per season

If this is the case, the Avs owe the Kings compensation as Lapperriere is not a Group V UFA, he is still a Group II, and the Kings get the opportunity to match.

HA!
