A lot of people including EJ and Al MacInnis have said there has been too much pressure on him. He put some of that pressure on himself and some has been from the organization, media, fans, etc.

Give him an A for sure but it might be better to hold off on making him captain. There's a lot on his plate already.

Stastny or Liles can take the pressure...assuming either of them remain on the roster.

I agree, EJ is the captain of this team for the future.

Liles crawls into the fetal position anytime his name is mentioned in trade rumours and I don't think he'll be on the Avs for too much longer. I think Stastny will be the next captain.

Unless we get a guy like Parise in the offseason

Fun with shift charts.

Erik Johnson: 24:17 TOI, out for 2 goals for, none against.

JML: 21:25 TOI, out for two goals for, one against.

Jonas Holos: 18:04 TOI, out for three goals against, none for.

Cameron Guance: 12:20 TOI, out for two goals against, none for.

Ryan Wilson: 24:13 TOI, out for zero goals against, none for.

Matt Hunwick: 20:09 TOI, out for two goals against, none for.

When you look at it, Johnson and Wilson actually played decently.

Everyone else, not so much.

Nah, we're too cheap to pay more than $4 M for a free agent and certainly too cheap to pay for Parise.

The same one as always. The group that doesn't show up for a full game, if at all.

I was talking to the Jerseys fans on their board and they say Parise is going nowhere. The rumour about wanting out is like Dater's Stastny to LA deal.

They don't have a chance of resigning him though.

Oh was it? Sorry I thought it was also on the PP. My mistake.

Anyways my thoughts on the game.

-Lets get this out of the way: This is a bad team.

-Holos is by far the worst defenceman on this team. Yes, worse than Hunwick. Just terrible plays all over the place. Soft as butter. Gets pushed off the puck so easily. What happened to all those things we were hearing about how Holos is as strong as an ox? Sounds like BS to me.

-I am really, really liking Ryan Wilson's game the last 20 or so. He's playing like the Wilson we saw during his rookie season pre concussion where he was dishing out hits left and right. I said this a few pages back but I think it's worth repeating. Wilson is a very, very good defender without the puck on his stick. When he gets into trouble is when he has the puck. If he can clean up some of his decision making WITH the puck, we'll have a very solid bottom four dman on our hands.

-EJ was very good today. Kept things more simple and it payed off. Nice to see he picked up a couple helpers and gets a plus 2. He is what this team needed since Blake left.

-Gaunce needs a bit more seasoning IMO but I like his potential.

-Send Holos down and call up Chouinard. I'd like to see what he has.

Duchene is in a bad, bad slump right now. He's doing nothing (good) out there.

His contract is ending right? How can they afford him with Kovy on board? I've been hearing about Parise being unloaded ever since Kovy was signed.

Edit: Well he's an RFA....but I don't think he'll like a $2 million contract

Just got home. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Sure we lost, but we weren't spanked too badly. Seats were awesome, and so was the 3rd period. I saw Sacco almost pop a vein in his forehead during the AVs timeout.

It was a seat all on it's own, and the season ticket holder couldn't go. I was surrounded by Kings fans, who were season ticket holders and they were really cool. They laughed at me when I yelled, go back to Ottawa when Elliott let it the 3rd goal

I don't know that Holos isn't strong, he's just a pansy who doesn't show it. He doesn't initiate contact, ever, and he bails out with the puck so quickly.

I think Chouinard is hurt.

Wilson has played well. He was outstanding today. And he does need work with the puck on his stick and his skating, but I don't have a problem with where he's at. I think people like to forget he's only in his second pro season, a good portion of his first spent injured. His puck skills will improve with time.

duchene needs to start shooting more and dangling less.

Arnott's 4.5M will be gone. They'll be able to re-sign Parise.

Parise will get the same $ as Kovy around the same number of years too. Yes, he is rfa but he isn't going anywhere he will sign a contract as soon as their seasons over.

I thought he came back from his broken collarbone. Or is he out again with something?

Maybe not. I thought the collarbone was supposed to be season ending. If he's ready to go, I say let's play him.
