Just seems he doesn't have that mean streak, the size, or the elbows/dirty plays (yet?).
Pronger has a much higher hockey IQ, is the best defenseman in front of his net in the league, is better positionally and has a better stick than Sbisa. Not to mention his outlet pass is top 5 in the league. Sbisa is much quicker and takes the body on the rush a lot more. I don't really see the comparison as far as their styles go.

Fowler sure does resemble Niedermayer a lot out there though.

This.

I don't know who it was, but someone here on the boards said once that Sbisa reminds him of a young Scott Stevens before his crushing open ice hits. I still think it's a great comparison, because right now no one in the league has exactly the same playing style like Sbisa.
Something I noticed in the last couple of games is that he gets better and better at positioning himself to deliver the hit. Sometimes he misses it, but just barely. With some experiences and better timing his hits could be devastating.

Nice to get him locked up.

Down the line I want to see Fowler-Sbisa rule the ice

Unless I'm mistaken, he'll be in his last RFA year at the end of this deal.

Nice to see signed, protects us from an offer sheet. However I was kinda hoping we could keep it under 2 million cap hit, still, a solid deal and it could turn into a great one in a year or two.

Good signing. Fair cap hit, better than signing him for 1 year at 1.2 or 1.5. (since his value would rise to over 3 mil per on the next contract)

Sbisa is now a part of the Ducks young core. Excited about he and Fowler on the Ducks blueline for years.

Well at least we are paying him well. if we plan on keeping him long term, would it not have made sense to have the first contract be shorter, hoping he doesn't turn into a superstar in 2 years/

either way, happy to see we are keeping Sbisa around, great shutdown d man, and i think he's going to be great, just never a top scorer.

If we keep Toni, I see Sbisa and Lydman being paired up on PK1.

I guess it was good the Ducks sent him down last year. Otherwise he would be an UFA at the end of the contract.

The contract is a "gamble." He's probably only proven enough to be worth like 1.5 for a year or 2. Short term, low dollar 2nd contract.

But 2.175 is so close to his worth and I think it's so likely that he will improve that this is a bargain contract. Not only that, but there's still 1 more RFA season left. Bob gets my ringing endorsement.

Oh and take that, people who say I'm just a Murray hater.

Like this deal a lot; think Sbisa will be worth much more than that in those final years of the deal.

Probably a slight overpayment but with that term it's not terrible. I was expecting a 2 year deal around $1.5M but $2.1M isn't too bad considering it is four years, provided he does become a decent top four guy in that timeframe.
