I thought he played pretty good tonight, and has been good overall since Boston, but if he would just chip the puck in at the blue line more it would help his line a lot. His penalty was an example of how he's trying to do too much, looking for the trailer, when the simple play would have been just as effective. If he would force less passes, and stop insisting on always doing the same thing, he'd be better. But I thought he's been better than earlier in the year.
Bettman would argue, "the South has never been healthier"
I would agree. Gomez does seem to at least be trying harder than earlier in the year. The problem is with how predictable he has become and that he seems to be in his own zone and on a different page than his line mates. Unfortunately, that is not easily remedied, it requires significant self evaluation. I still think Gomez has the capacity to change and improve, but I am starting to doubt if he will. Its hard to deny how much of a black hole he has become, especially considering Martin has tried absolutely everything to get him going.

With MaxPac's size and speed, a soft dump for him to retrieve should be an obvious play that line would try often. If they as a line incorporated that more, then Gomez would be more likely to setup behind the goal line, instead of trying to hit the trailer when the opposing team usually has everyone back in their zone. Drives me nuts because I know he's better than what his stats indicate.
I like the feistiness that Wiz brings. Its nice to have a player that can deliver those big hits.
I really wish I knew if he could become more defensively reliable though as he matures. He's going to be a question mark this summer in terms of resigning. He could play a significant role in our future or be a sore spot if he gets too much.
I just saw the Quick Hits on the Habs website after the game ... my favorite quote was from Sopel:
"It was nice look around and actually see fans in the seats"
Didn't he see fans in the seats when he played on that Stanley Cup team? I understand Atlanta was a different ball game compared to Chicago last year, or Montreal for that matter.
I've recorded the game on CBC but I assume it's unnecessary to upload any videos since they are all up in HD. Also, I heard the CBC feed sucked tonight.

He obviously means the half empty arena in Hotlanta.

Could you pleaaase upload Subban dancing around at the end of the game? I would love you forever.
