Thought I'd add a 3rd to my earlier 2:

Datsyuk
Hudler
Helm
McCollum
Tatar
1st in '12

--add Schneider coming Detroit's way

They are untradable because the team trading for them would be giving up SOOOO much that the sedins would have nobody left to play with and the team would suck.

Sedins for Crosby

that would be the only possible trade.

I think the only way this works is if it's a three-way deal. Canucks would need a star forward, a star defenseman, and both players need to be 25 or younger. Like Doughty and Duchene, picks and prospects going between Col/LA depending on where the Sedins end up with the Canucks adding some peripheral pieces to finish the deal.

None of these are even close.

It would probably take Stamkos + St Louis + 1st (maybe Hedman) for Vancouver to even consider it. Those are the only 2 players I can see Vancouver wanting. I doubt Crosby/Malkin Ovechkin/Backstrom or w/e would be interesting since Sedin/Sedin has been more consistent than any of those combos.

You aren't going to get fair value for the Sedins.

Malkin, Staal, 1st is the most realistic offer I've seen in this thread. Though, I'd probably want Neal thrown into that.

Malkin, Neal, Staal, 1st
for
Sedins

I think the value is there, but it would bring Pittsburgh back to where they were two weeks ago with no linemate for Crosby. Vancouver would lose two 100 point forwards in exchange for one. Neither team does it, but it's a fair trade for both sides.

Kesler-Malkin-Neal
Raymond-Staal-Samuelsson
Burrows-Malhotra-Hansen
Glass-Hodgson-Torres

That actually looks a lot worse than what we've got right now.

Sedin(30)-Sedin(30) for Stamkos(21)-St Louis(35)

Fair value because the best player in the group is Stamkos who is the youngest and still has maybe 15+ more years ahead of him yet. St Louis is an excellent winger who's aging but still has several years left.

Sedins combined age is 60 and Stamkos/St Louis combined are 56.

I think other than maybe TB throwing in a minor draft pick (say a 2nd rounder or something just to compensate for the special "twin symbiosis factor") that deal would be pretty damn fair.

Of course neither side would likely do the deal but just looking at it from a neutral point of view I think that's a reasonably fair trade.

Effectively untradeable since the return would have to be better than the Sedins.

The only exception would be a sudden Canucks rebuilt, in which case the Sedins could be moved for a huge package of future star-potential talent.

Just spitballing, but what about:

To Edm: Sedins
To Van: Hall, Eberle, Paajarvi, Omark, 1st.

Zach Parise, Travis Zajac, Mattias Tedenby and a high draft pick.

This isn't exactly a thread that you can claim that when names like Crosby, Ovechkin, and Stamkos are being thrown around.

It's a trade that no one would be willing to give up. They are elite players in the league and you would have to give up your chances in the future and then some to even get Vancouver to even think about trading them.

As a Canucks fan, I'd take the Pitts one but not the NYI one.

If you live in some weird parallel universe where Vancouver is in the toilet and looking to shed salaries maybe. In this one where the Canucks are #1 in the NHL, then I'd like some of the drugs you're on.

The Sedins are going nowhere. What instantly makes the Canucks better? That's who has to come back in return.
