That's just ridiculous. I've been convinced, trading Tim Connolly tomorrow will not have a major effect on the remainder of the season...with the exception of a weaker 5 on 3 PK.

No wonder the phone is ringing off the hook for #19..

Reiger is probably just blowing smoke at the TBN to make Timmah feel like someone actually wants him...

Goose PPG past 3 seasons: .27
Connolly's PPG past 3 seasons: .82

So who was spinning stats in their favor? Can't believe anyone thinks Gaustad can be anything more then a 4th line center, he is one of the worst skaters in the league and never uses his body anymore.

Even-strength goals since October 30, 2010:

Jochen Hect: 10
Paul Gaustad: 8
Cody McCormick: 6
Nathan Gerbe: 5
Mike Grier: 5
Mike Weber: 3
Luke Adam: 3
Andrej Sekera: 2
Craig Rivet: 1
Paul Byron: 1
Shaone Morrisonn: 1
Tim Connolly: 1
Rob Niedermayer: 0

I mean, what else needs to be said? At least he has more ES goals since 10/30/10, so he's got that going for him, which is nice. Connolly is a guy we need to make the playoffs? He's a good PKer, especially at 5-on-3, but some are acting like playoffs are an impossibility without the guy. And, oh by the way, we're 8-5-1 without him in the lineup. Small sample size, but we could also be playing with additional players this time around if Regier can swing a trade for a non-rental.

The conversation was about this year, not 3 years ago. So clearly you are the one spinning.

And considering Gaustad leads the forwards in +/-, I'd say he's been more than adequate as this team's 3rd line center. Connolly, on the other hand, has completely failed at the top 6 centerman role he's being paid to fill.

From the outside looking in, it would have been easy to expect that Connolly would step up and play at a higher level with Roy going down for the year. I don't think it is hard to make the argument that the team has been winning in spite of Connolly, not because of him.

How's that for editorializing haha

I hope we re-sign him. I still love the guy. Things obviously aren't going right for him this year, you sign him to a lower contract for next season and see how he performs in that contract year.

I am not Darcy Regier

And we're all glad for that. Connolly...ugh. Nothing more needs to be said.

Without Roy here, unless we are throwing in the towel this year (which we aren't), trading Connolly makes not sense unless part of some blockbuster package designed to help for the future. i.e., not bloody likely.

So I think Tim Connolly should think about packing his suitcase right about now.

I wouldn't be opposed to keeping Connolly. He could be the 3rd line center; Gaustad could move to 4th (where he belongs).

I think the real problem is that Connolly is paid to be a top-6 guy when he's clearly not. If the Sabres could sign him to a reasonable contract, I have no problem with keeping him.

Eklund is now saying Connolly to the Kings is a possibility. Then again, with Eklund anyone to anywhere is a possibility. Grain of salt digested.

I get a kick out of these digs at Goose I've been reading. He has been playing 16-17 min a night pretty much since Roy went down. He has played very well in those minutes but that never seems to matter on here.

So now opinions are wrong? When did this begin? I've watch Gaustad for years, I've seen how awesome and effective he can be. The problem for me is I have not seen that Gaustad for 2 seasons. On my Preferred sabres lineup he is a 4th liner who used to be a 3rd liner. Sure he can fill in to the 3rd from time to time, but it is just the way I see it. I guess my opinion is wrong, oh well, I can live with that. My fantasy is to see him moved, but I know I am in the lower 10% with that blasphemy!

We debate opinions on here. Obviously if we disgree with one then we think its wrong. Whats the issue?

Btw if you haven't seen that Goose for 2 yrs then you haven't watch the last several weeks. Yet again proving my point that it doesn't matter how he plays now posters ignore it and stick with their preconceived ideas of what he should be.

So does Brad Boyes make a difference? We got a center so now there's absolutely no reason we need to hang on to Connolly right? Please?

Exactly, they finally have replaced Roy, and with TC gone this offseason and Byron pushing, they have adequate coverage at C.
