Smart move by HF. I guess I should consider myself privileged. However I'm not racing to make new topics.
In 5 years with the backwards franchise known as the Florida Panthers, Bryan Allen has been a plus player.
I'll take this trade as a Canes fan for now

yeah. he's not that bad. have to take the average opinion around here with a grain of salt. his mobility has definitely declined and he has to play a pretty simple game but he's a team guy, gritty on the wall and in front of the net. can't fight worth a damn but for a bottom-pairing guy, you could do worse.
regarding running guys out of town, same could be said for most every team's fans around here. and frankly, most haven't the slightest idea what they're talking about. toronto is the worst when it comes to that, eh?
I like this trade. Just a straight up swap of two decent players. Allen should be a good fit with the Canes and shore up the defense. Samsonov might fly under the radar in Florida and be a solid pick up (If he is resigned). Maybe Samsonov will be used in a role to mentor Evgeny Dadonov.
Florida fans are amusing... The list of Dmen they have run out of town and hated speaks volumes
We've run whom outta town? Team's been awful for a decade, who's tearing it up elsewhere that was once a Panther d-man the last decade? Bouw's not been all that spectacular, either, his issues are just more magnified.
Weaver, Garrison, Kuli, please let them stick around for some time. I didn't want Jovo to go, wasn't a fan of Bouwmeester, years before he left. Seidenberg and Skrastins did well for us and I was sorry to see them go, but no one else truly sticks out. Leopold was OK, always liked Van Ryn before he got hurt...amazing list of barely memorable guys.
I liked Caber and Weidman, but we're finally rebuilding the right way. Tearing it down, starting with a good foundation. Hopefully it works...this time.

If by 'mentoring' you mean teaching Evgeny how to figure skate, avoid all physical contact, and overeat? Then sure.
Allen is not good. His play has declined since his knee injury. He grabs the middle of his stick with one hand all the time to move the puck. It's bizarre.
This isn't a "chance" for Samsonov, really.
It's a salary dump for a crappy defenseman who was still under contract for next year, so the Panthers took it.
Samsonov won't be here next year, unless he becomes a stud over the next month or so.
The Panthers have plenty of young forwards + plenty of money to acquire some forwards better than Samsonov for Samsonov to stick around next year. It's not happening.
