Wonder if Upshall will stoke that old rivalry. Umberger actually paid a compliment to Kesler when these two teams got together last time, but I think Upshall was the first guy who vocally expressed his dislike of Kesler.

Oh right. I forgot they actually have to play on the ice. Can't we just make more trades? Yesterday was fun.

Tambellini sticking up for Lapierre should be interesting. Or more likely Glass.

Chris Higgins provides a giant morale boost while Max Lapierre agitates the puck in 300 times.

301-2 Canucks (Lapierre, Hodgson from all the way down in the AHL)

Am I the only one who found CBJ's deadline move odd? They've been clamoring for a defenseman and a PP quarterback all year, and proceed to trade defensive depth for a third line forward? Seems weird. I mean, it's not like their defensive depth was anything to write home about with Klesla in the line-up.

Anyways, will be interesting to see how Lapierre responds to being back in Canada; hopefully the crowd can light a fire under his butt and he plays a little crazy.

the good: we got a player in upshall who plays a perfect speed game for arniel's system, we got a player in lepisto who is at least as good as anton ****man while he is out, and MOST IMPORTANTLY we got rid of $3Mx3 of klesla's contract when rusty has been playing like 1/3 of the season anymore.

the bad: as you said, we didn't address any of our needs.. at all.

What's interesting is that with his Ohio State roots, I wouldn't be surprised if, at least right now, the Columbus crowd weren't more on Kesler's side. Kind of like the crowd reaction might have been if Lapierre had gone after Lucic in his first game as a Canuck. I guess it's too late to find out.

Ya, fair enough. I like Upshall as a player, but found that move a bit weird. I guess if Klesla was massively under-performing relative to salary it makes a bit more sense; though I still don't think you guys are a team who should be shedding defensive depth in the heart of a run for the playoffs. Take it from a Vancouver fan, defensemen get injured!

^Eh...Umberger played at OSU for three seasons compared to one for Kesler, and Umberger was a Hobey Baker candidate in his final year to boot. He would seem to have the more established fandom in Columbus at this stage.

I'm hoping for a resounding victory after the recent stretch of pedestrian performances (we do have a good excuse...)

Anyone else think Lapierre looks like the ******* love child of Burrows and Luongo?
