Russo just confirmed it: "#mnwild trades Anton Khudobin to #bruins for defenseman Jeff Penner and Mikko Lehtonen in minor-league deal"

Looks like Khudobin for Noreau 2.0 and a total project player. Lehtonen is a 7.0 F

Can you imagine the fun we'd be having at DR's expense if he was still here and had made a deal for 'Penner', but not 'THE' Penner ???

It's a fine deal. Khudobin isn't going to do anything here, and we get some guys that will help Houston. I'm fine with us not moving anyone either, I wonder who we try to dangle at the draft.
Edit: Looks like Lehtonen is playing in the SEL with 56 points in 52 games.

Lehtonen's numbers last two years in the AHL:
72gp 28g 25a 53pts
78gp 23g 27a 50pts
Kid's got a lot more skill than just about any of our AHL forwards.

Except he is not a kid. He'll be 32 this year

So did Voloshenko, O'Sullivan and...whoever else.
Lehtonen is a decent depth player. So is Penner....

Wasn't he born in 1987, making him 23?

Safe to say Lehtonen never comes to North America?

Lehtonen is the leading goal scorer in Sweden.
Edit: also 2nd in points.

Well it appears that he's a PPG player in the SEL, and is 24ish if he was born in 1987, I'll take him over Khudobin any day since we have so much goalie depth.

I'm sure the Wild will give it a shot, but it's a low-risk-high reward trade.

Guys, this might be an amazing deal for the Wild.
From what I can tell, Mikko Lehtonen is #2 in points and #1 in goals in the Swedish Elite League.
And the guy is 23 years old and is a 6'3" RW, who happens to be from Finland.
Maybe a potential RW for Koivu?

Hackett's played as well as Khudobin, and Josh Tjordman didn't deserve to spend 2/3rds of the season in the ECHL. Lehtonen's intriguing in some amounts, but at the same time we gave up nothing(Khudobin was headed to the KHL next season IMO) and got something that Boston would call nothing, because Lehtonen is playing in Europe. Lehtonen could be used as a mentor for Granlund if we can convince him to come back to North America. Perhaps he could compete for a spot as well, that is all to be determined.

He had fairly good numbers with Providence before going to the SEL this year.
I guess we'll see. Not holding my breath. Besides, I'm pretty sure there's some kid of rule for having more than one Mikko on a North American team. I'll have to look that up, though.

The 23 year old is the only one listed among Boston's prospects.

Ha, there are two Mikko Lehtonen's in Boston. A 32yo D, and a 23yo RW. I hope we got the right one
EDIT: Never mind, I'm being stupid. The older one is just a random Euro player.
