Well I wouldn't call RJ "underaverage" for pretty much any role he plays in. I still don't get her dislike. He's not the most skilled player we have, but he's light years from the least skilled.

Have no idea if we win tonight. But we'll probably need some luck to go with our new found skill. But we can beat anyone in the league on any given night.

For us I like his play because when I played ice-hockey I played similar style.
Really? So from what I can tell here, he has all the tools but he lacks hockey sense because he shoots from everywhere? OK, got it.

Based on what I just read in PuckRakers, I get the feeling we won't get to see our new guys tonight. I doubt Arniel puts either of them in without even one practice with the team.

I bet they still play even with missing the morning skate, you only have them for 20 games why not used them for all 20.

Not for it. Besides I do not claim he does not any hockey sense for it.

Calvert has hockey sense. He has a nose for the net. He has an excellent shot. He plays hard in all zones. He hasn't had, to this point, a rough time adapting to the speed of the game.

I have seen him make a few mistakes, but his other contributions have made up for it.

I'm not sure where his ceiling will be, but to this point I have zero idea why he couldn't be a second line player in this league.

We will have to see how he responds to scoring slumps and 80+ game schedules. But so far so good.

I have a bad feeling about this game and the rest of this road trip. I have this feeling that with Brassard and Huselius out that our offense will finally start to dry up.

Not to mention this is the exact point earlier in the season where Mason started to go downhill with those games in Edmonton and Calgary where he gave up so many soft goals.

The team overall, offense, defense, and goaltending has played very well since that Chicago game for the most part. I'd love to believe that they will all continue to produce at the same time but at some point something's going to give. I just hope that when it does this team can remain resilient. A lose tonight doesn't kill their playoff chances but it just about means they can't lose any more on this road trip.

I just don't see the 'Nucks dropping to second or third.

At no point did Mason have a stretch like this last season.

February 9 9 517 7 2 0 19 2.20 265 246 .928 0 2

He had that nice 4 game stretch after Hitch was let go, but he never put together a 9 game stretch like that.

Maybe Mason will regress, but I mentioned in January I noticed a difference in net even though the results weren't quite there yet. I haven't been surprised by his play in Feb.

As far as the offense drying up. Kind of hangs on Calvert and what Upshall can bring, as well as the contributions from the defense. I'm more worried about our defense continuing to produce at this pace then I am with Brass and Juice out.

Ready for tonight, still upset we lost on Sunday. Just sick and tired of losing down there and I really believed we were going to win that game. But its over and done with now, so hopefully the guys are ready to rebound as well, and get a big, much needed 2 points tonight.

Over and done with and on to the next game seems to be one of Arniel's strengths. He really has the team all in. The hockey Gods deemed that were not to win the last one, maybe this one falls our way.

I really wanted to go down for that game but could not get anyone to go with me. Enjoy the game.

Good luck tonight Jackets fans.

Canucks haven't been very consistent lately but they also haven't lost back to back games in regulation since November so it will be interesting to see which Canucks team shows up. I guess I'm saying the Jackets have a better chance at winning tonight than they might have a month ago when the team was rolling. 3rd line has been better lately but the second line is struggling, namely Mason Raymond who is mired in an eleven game goalless drought and has a disappointing 10 on the season. I expect a close, low scoring game regardless of who wins.

Things to watch for from the Canucks:

M. Lapierre will make his debut as the 4th line center tonight

Great. We had a good time, except for final result on scoreboard. All in all, an awesome weekend. Good times down there. I think we all spent yesterday recovering Tons of pics on the Topshelf blog.
