Quebec city press conference

I think Quebec getting a hockey team is getting more real, Quebecor will inject money, the contract with the city have 2 terms, one with and one without a NHL hockey team.

The arena will most likely have the name Quebecor in it.

Stade Quebecor? Colisée Quebecor?

Rolls right off the tongue, eh?

Who are we going to be losing from this section to the Nordiques section if they get a team? Identify yourself so we can decide whether you're a loss or can be replaced.

I'm gonna enjoy this new arena but I'm not a traitor.

Forever Habs fan living in Quebec since 1987.

This was the only way I'd really be in favor of a new arena in Quebec, if PKP invested into it. He wants the team, he will have to spend more on it!

Good for him. I'm assuming this place will be called the Colisee Videotron or something like that, I doubt it's Quebecor. It's gotta advertise THE product more. Plus as mentioned above, it's going to add something to the so called Rivalry that people want.

Way too much of a steal off the Bell though, don't you think?

I'm thinking they keep the nostalgia feel and have Colisee in it.

I wish Pilsner Urquell would sponsor a team, I would buy hockey tickets just to get completely wasted on a great 12 degree.

I figure the a big part of the reason they're doing it is cause of this. I just have a feeling Colisee Videotron, Place Videotron, Centre Videotron.

I can already picture the major trolling that will be on the habs and nordiques boards when they come back ...

So how much is the Quebec govt paying? We can't afford to pay prosecutors to clean up this mafia province, but we can give tax money to a billionaire to promote bread & circus in a new colliseum.

i dont think they will call it colisee, they tend to use things like center, arena etc. if they call it colisee, ppl wont mention Videotron when referring to it.

Don't see how this makes a team in Quebec any closer. Also seems to be a the taxpayer that is losing again. From the TSN article:

Quote:
Mayor Regis Labeaume says the company will pay $33 million for naming rights for 25 years, another $3.15 million annually for the right to manage the building, and will also give the city 15 per cent of profits from the facility.
What about the provincial government? Who pays the tax bill on the place or will they get to go tax free? To many questions and seems very sketchy.

Poor mods. It'll be worse than Habs-Bruins trolling after a game...

Not only that, PKP will use his convergence at full power for the new hockey team... TVA will be biased to the Nordiques, 7 jours magazine with Nordiques players on front page only... Journal de Montreal and Journal de Quebec bashing the Habs. Nordiques players at Star Academie...

I start to hate the future team already just because it is affiliated with Quebecor. But I think it will be great for the rivalry.

Journal de Montreal/Quebec will be glad they are still alive by 2015, let alone being biased.

They're would be a few pains, but their community would be small on the English boards. One time in which the language barrier would work in Montreal Anglo favor, for a change.
