Funny the Bell Center's contract isn't appearing there.

Anyway, how about they call it Le Centre Quebecor? It'll have a nice nationalist ring to it, I'd say. "Quebec's Center".

Hum... "Le Centre de Quebec"

Or maybe l'antichambre Videotron.

P.S. I like the show but had to make the joke.

Good for him. I'm assuming this place will be called the Colisee Videotron or something like that, I doubt it's Quebecor. It's gotta advertise THE product more. Plus as mentioned above, it's going to add something to the so called Rivalry that people want.
Yes just like it's the Bell Center and not the BCE Center.

The thing about a Quebec team is you just know that heavy politics will be mixed with sport.

Whatever...

Intersting facto:

when Quebec got the Nordique, it was in 1980, year of the 1st Referendum
when Quebec lost the Nordique, it was in 1995, year of the 2nd Referendum

Coincidence? Yhea, probably. But it's still a funny fact of life, don't you think?

Quebec got the Nordiques in 1972 and they started playing in the NHL in 1979. So don't bet to much on a referendum in the near future.

Which for me is the same for the Colisée 'cause that's the only thing people would call it, forgetting the Vidéotron or whatever comes after.

As too long it sounds, I would be L'Amphithéâtre Vidéotron, or even le Centre Vidéotron. Either way, chances are you won't be able to say Amphithéâtre or Centre alone without saying the rest.
Exactly. I work in communications and a few decades ago it wouldn't have been as big of an issue as it this today. But now it's all about who's screaming the loudest and you can't afford to lose that kind of soapbox. You can be sure that they'll analyse any name possible. But, no disrespect to your post, I'm not too sure about l'Amphithéâtre Vidéotron: "Are the Nords playing a home game tomorrow?" - "No there's a show at l'Amphithéâtre". Thinking about it, the same can be said about Arena or Centre. Let's go with the PKP-Quebecor-Illico-HD-Banquier-LCN-Labeaume-Centre-of-Sports. How's that?

Also, I think that if the rivalry comes back at 50% of what it was, it would still be bigger than the Habs-Bs rivalry. Which says a lot about our rivalry.

If the Nordiques come back, it would be 1000 x worse than the Bruins rivalry. It would be intense.

Meanwhile - the NHL is cooling off on QC, the feds say no money for arenas, and Bob McKenzie reckons the NHL to Winnipeg - maybe soon.

A day of contrasting stories....

Bettman cools talk of NHL in Quebec City

No cash for arenas: Tories

McKenzie: Could the NHL return to Winnipeg next season?

The feds not giving money isn't really news, since nobody has expected them to do so for months now. The Quebec arena project assumes there won't be any federal money.

thats right, they said they will not invest in the new arena but they will invest in all around it (aqueduc, road, new developpement....), so its almost the same thing for quebec city, just a simple way to not give the satisfaction to Labeaume...

Dunno... Its probably better for Labeaume AND the Conservatives that way. It means :

A. Labeaume can say he did it even without the Fed govt.

B. Conservatives can say they didn't help for the Quebec Arena to the rest of the country all the while protecting some of their votes in Quebec.

Btw Josée Verner always said that Quebec city doesnt have enought private money in the project but i'm sure if you ask her how much we need....she doesnt know !

I've been thinking about this and 1 question comes to mind. If Atlanta moved to Quebec and Phoenix moved to Winnipeg how would you realign the divisions?
